Do yourselves a favour and don't bother. Utter crap. Until now I thought Kubrick's "2001 A Space Odyssey" was the most up it's own arse. Naw, actually, all Kubrick's movies are still worse.
I really liked it. Don't get me wrong - passing through the event horizon without being spaghettified was horrendous physics (among a dozen or two other flaws) - but it gave so many reminders elsewhere that I just had to respect the overall effort in terms of having a sci-fi that reflected reality (sushhhh don't mention the 1.2 gravity tsunami planet in which they somehow didn't need a Saturn II rocket to escape...).
Went on for too long, but was good for the first hour and a half. Could have done with more tits and space boning. Can fully understand why it appealed to tedious intellectuals like Mick though.
That's because Nolan is the most overrated director alive. Inception is a technical borefest populated by cardboard ****ers All his Batman films make me want to see the bad guy win. When Michael Caine is the best thing in a film then the game is a bogey.
I've not got round to watching it yet, partly because it's 3 hours long and if it's ****e, there will be beel.
My nan took me to see "2001 A Space Odyssey" at The Odeon Leicester Square when it came out. I was about 9 years old and expecting to see some sort of glorified Star Trek sci-fi action thriller. It wasn't a great day out, put it that way. Saw it again a few years ago and decided it was pretty good, so long as you accept that there is no narrative. Kubrick made "Spartacus" and "A Clockwork Orange" among others. That's a pretty good CV imo.
2001 is one of the best films ever made. People who don't like it tend to like ****e like Batman and other comic book related pish. 2001 came out in 1967 I believe which would make you 57 so about the same age as our Dev and about 20 years younger than ER.
