Quiet at the back. I toyed with doing this in rhyme, but gave it up. I reckon others on here could have managed it. I've a fair idea where this is liable to go on here, but I think there's a few on here that could put together a decent entry, even if they maybe wouldn't want to admit it to the rest of us. Have a read of the message from the OSC, and if you've an offering send it via the link in the message. The City of Culture is a great opportunity to showcase what we've got in this area, it'd be good to reveal more talent from Hull City to a wider audience. The Hull City Official Supporters Club Poetry Competition entry period has been extended to 30 April 2015. The competition has been received well by fans, schools, the media and the City of Culture 2017 team and with entries still being received the organisers want to give people more time to enter. Details of the competition can be found on the Supporters Club web site http://www.hullcityosc.com/or by contacting Tony Conway on [email protected] . HULL - CITY OF FOOTBALL CULTURE In two years time this great City of ours, Kingston Upon Hull, will be City of Culture. For 365 days there will be song, dance, music, theatre, artistry and performance of all types taking place all round the area. Here at the Hull City Official Supporters Club we think sport and in particular football is part of the arts and it is certainly culture. To promote the event and to get people thinking on these lines in preparation for 2017, we in conjunction with Dave Osgerby, Hull City's Poet-in-residence are launching a poetry competition. Fans who read the City Match Day programme, Up the Tigers, will be familiar with Dave's match day poems, reflecting his fanatical support to the Tigers. Dave combines his two great cultural passions poetry and football by writing about Hull City in poetic form. We suspect there are many more poets out there amongst the thousands who support the club and we want to hear from them. The competition is in 2 parts, one for the under 15's and one for the over 15's. We ask you to write a poem of no more that 200 words or 14 lines of prose. The subject is anything Hull City. Write about your favourite player (current of past) most memorable game or event, a manager, the grounds, the atmosphere, a season or even a family member or friend who is fanatical about the Tigers. We would like to attract school children and ask that any schools in Hull and East Yorkshire that like to encourage literature and in particular poetry and would like to use football as a means of assisting children to get into poetry to consider entering the competition. David Osgerby is willing to assist any school to achieve this.
