When you want to write a song about an affair but you don't want the wife to know... RIP Cyn. You were always 10 times the girl that the Jap lass was.
Although a hero of mine John Lennon's treatment of Cynthia and Julian was an absolute disgrace if there is any semblance of truth in what has been written. But when looking at all The Beatles Ringo left wife Maureen for Barbara Bach, Slowhand (not so slow in this instance) went behind his mates back to eventually marry his wife and George seemed ok with it in fact he and Clapton stayed great friends. There was only Paul and the media frenzy over Jane Asher, a marriage that would never have taken place at all despite Paul helping Jane's brother Peter (from the Perter and Gordon duo World Without Love fame) and it Linda who became the love of his life, not only that she influenced Paul with her lifestyle and although it was stated that she was related to the Kodak/Eastman empire I don't think that was the case. Cynthia remained mainly discreet about her and Lennon as I don't recall an kiss and tell type book although she did write her memoirs. I don't believe Yoko broke up The Beatles but I don't think she helped them stay together either John seemed mesmerised by her and he was a big driving force in the Fab Four. RIP Cynthia a beautiful woman who deserved better, she was with Lennon long before Beatlemania surfaced but was kept out of it by The Beatles management and kept out of her husbands life ever after it seems.
You're correct - the Eastmans were lawyers and represented Paul in the legal battle with Allan Klein. This from Wiki: Cynthia Lennon (née Powell; 10 September 1939 – 1 April 2015) was the former wife of musician John Lennon, and mother of Julian Lennon. She grew up in the middle-class section of Hoylake, on the Wirral Peninsula in North West England. At the age of 12, she was accepted into the Junior Art School, and was later enrolled in the Liverpool College of Art. John Lennon also attended the college; a meeting with Lennon in a calligraphy class led to their relationship. When John was performing in Hamburg with the Beatles, she rented his bedroom from his aunt and legal guardian, Mimi Smith. After Powell became pregnant, she and John were married on 23 August 1962 at the Mount Pleasant register office in Liverpool. In 1964, they lived at Kenwood in Weybridge, where she kept house and participated with her husband in a London-based social life. In 1968, John left her for Yoko Ono; the couple's divorce was legally granted on 8 November 1968. She married Italian hotelier Roberto Bassanini in 1970, divorcing him in 1973. In 1976, she married John Twist, an engineer fromLancashire, but divorced him in 1983. After her divorce from Twist, she changed her name back to "Lennon" by deed poll and met Jim Christie, her partner for 17 years. She published a book of memoirs, A Twist of Lennon, in 1978, and later was married to Noel Charles, a night club owner, from 2002 until his death in 2013. In 2005, she published a more intimate biography, John. Over the years she staged several auctions of memorabilia associated with her life with John Lennon. In 2006, she and her son Julian Lennon attended the Las Vegas premiere of the Cirque du Soleil production of Love whose theme is the music of the Beatles. Until her death in 2015, she lived in Majorca, Spain.[1]
