Minder Or The Sweeney?

Cast your minds back to the halcyon days of the 70's and early 80's and two absolutely fantastic series. Which one was the better though.

Difficult to say as TV was so much better in the golden years. So much so Ravey Davey Jones wrote a song about it.

Pushed I would have to say The Sweeney, just.

Sometimes programmes get repeated you know. That's the black and white of it.

 

I know, I wasn't getting at the TV programmes it was just a general statement.

 

Both are better than Better Call Saul

Neither of them are a patch on Flikken. The original Belgian version, not the bandwagon-jumping Dutch version.

Dunno, but I suspect Life on Mars was based on the Sweeney so I'd probably like it.

But if it's anything like the film with Ray Winstone I'd rather smear dog food on my bawsack and dangle it in a pool of piranhas.

 

You need to add Dixon of Dock Green into the mix so that Dev's got something to vote for.

 

I was thinking more Keystone Cops for Dev.

 

Minder was an 80s show. And it was a bit ****.

Whereas The Sweeney was probably the best cop show ever seen on TV. Complex and morally ambiguous characters, plots that never fully resolved themselves, fast sharp dialogue, and best of all, car chases in Ford Granadas.

 

British TV is ****.
