this is why i said a few guys ought to stand up and stop using themedia to whine and actually do something... be leaders. sponsor some guys through coaching badges and encourage cos frankly i'd say this whining puts others off going for it rather than encourages it.

Think I mentioned it before, I don't think it's a racial issue - I simply think that there isn't enough quality Black managers in the game.

Give it another decade, and there will be a larger pool of black ex pros looking to go into management. <ok>

Also, still waiting on Tobes to respond to his Eastern European slur. <ok>

My pop at Barnes i guess was because hes now championing this position that he's being discriminated against AFTER he has messed up at a couple of clubs when he hadn't previously held this position.

Of course racism is wrong and i don't doubt their are chairman of some clubs who are racist (Dave Whelan we're looking at you). There are many things that are playing a part in black managers not getting into the game but you could probably make the same argument for white lower class, white upper class etc etc. What i've just used the numbers to prove is that in terms of black qualified coaches and their ratios being represented in the game, there isn't showing any racism. People are joining on the racism bandwagon saying there are only 10 black managers (or however many there are) and what i'm saying is that that is because there are not enough qualified black coaches (this being a different argument altogether that Tobes made earlier).

    thats good info...

I wuold like to know now who many as a% of coaches total in england have pro licence. Say oh i dunno just total in pro clubs even

here is a list on wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ed_for_the_UEFA_Pro_Licence#Qualified_in_2014

    this is an interesting article

    http://www.theguardian.com/football/2010/jun/01/football-coach-shortage-england

in 2010 there were 10 times the coaches in spain, italy or germany with any sort of badge. that on its own is scandalous given the money in the game

you'll note barnes hasn't got his name down but paul ince is going for his pro licence...

you will also note that rodgers and ingelthorpe have their pro licence, mike marsh is going for his at least for us.

I think perosnally 200 hours of training is the minimum someone should put in if they are serious about getting a job worth 5mil a year at the top level.

You should pipe the **** down as I didn't accuse Eastern Europeans of being snide at all.

I saw him excusing a player of the actions he'd been found guilty of, wheeling out the club line and then bemoaning how his punishment was harsh, based solely on the fact the player wore a red shirt.

Would he have defended Suarez in the same way had he been an Arsenal player?

Okay, you said Snide eastern european or something to that effect. Tbh I don't think you meant to call all eastern europeans snides and you were adding eastern european to differentiate it was Skrtel but some took offence to it. Anyway i don't give a **** doesn't offend me either. You did say it though :D

One rule for Tobes, and one for others ...

Let's put it down to cultural differences. <ok>

No mate, what I actually said was Eastern European snide - which he is......

No-one took genuine offence as there was nothing to take offence to, it was in the aftermath of their defeat and some decided that they'd try and use that as a stick to beat me with as they were hurtin'.

    Keep telling yourself that mate.

I guarantee that if anyone had said something like 'black snide' instead of Eastern European, you would have been the first one to bang on about it.

So why is what you said any different?

It's amazing because there are a lot of people who bang on the racism drum, but they are the most guilty of other types of derogatory comments. But because you don't mention skin colour, all is well.

Which was the party line and a complete nonsense given that the man had lived in Europe for 4 years at the time of the incident......

Your Everton-ness is blinding you Tobes, its not like he threw a banana at anyone.

The issue is wider than club loyalty and point scoring on a footy forum.

If you're serious point out where in the article he stated he supported the racist related remark made by Suarez?
Discussing the context in which it was used is not condoning its use is it?

The period John Barnes was playing racism was more common if football. I used to live close to
"John Barnes Walk" in Forestgate East London (Earlham Grove). Black
or white we're all afraid of West Ham boys. John Barnes was recognised
and they named a street after him. There are good and evil in this world:
as a person, John Barnes is not doing badly. I do not know if he is white
    he would have done better??.

    1. Like you lads did on his debut at Highbury you mean???

    2. What is? Barnes excusing Suarez for his racial abuse of an opponent or Barnes claiming that the inherent racism in the game has ****ed his managerial career?

    3. He was condoning the use of the word by the 'cultural differences' defence, that is therefore supporting the player by definition. You're merely playing with semantics there, his defence of the player was there for all to see.

And what is your defence of referring to Martin Skrtel as an Eastern European snide?

Like I said, if someone had said 'Black snide', there would be furore.

    Love the hypocrisy.

Referring to someone's skin colour is awful but generalising a player by his place of birth/origin is acceptable.
