Over the past few games, we have seen the wings back take a deeper position, rather than pushing on. It's causing confusion. Moreno is decent - he's raw but good potential.
Moreno was signed as an attacking full back. If his main job was to defend we'd have stuck with Enrique.
I can bring up the same point I made in the Sterling thread about Arsenal here. They dont stand up to big clubs when it comes to transfers. They are a selling club. But a fair few of the young players they had moved to decent sides in decent leagues. Fabrigas and Song - Barcelona Clichy - Man City Flamini - AC Milan? Nasri - Man City. Decent profits. Looking at Arsenals 2010 squad a decent amount are still around. Wilshere, Koscielny, Szczęsny, Walcott, Gibbs, Ramsey, Diaby, Coquelin and Rosiky (their golden oldie). All of those apart from Diaby play a significant role.
Sure a lot of those Arsenal players are injury prone, but we can learn from Arsenal's errors and protect our players.
That's because they are always the next big thing and never the current thing. We're following a similar path atm too
Its all good, Van Gaargle by then will be sitting on a beach in his paradise in Portugal lighting cigars with £50 notes earned spending Utd's millions and winning nothing and Giggs by then behind Fergie's desk begging for Moyes to come back.
Arsenal lose their players all the time but yet manage to qualify for CL. Whilst I'm not saying we should be content with what Arsenal achieve (or lack of), I would happily accept a top 4 spot every year whilst on a limited budget due to stadium spent. Wenger is incredibly underrated IMO.
arsenal have paid enough to do so arsenal have had stability. arsenal in other words got lucky LFC imploded right when city came along as rafa's record was consistently ahead of arsenal so when city finally got 4th there was no LFC to challenge arsenal. That's the reality. now that arsenal have 3/4 real challengers they've started spending 40/50mil on players. we have to see that when spurs qualified for the CL ONCE it was cos we imploded. city were not good enough then and we finished 7th and rafa got the sack. arsenal since have just seen city take our place, spurs sack managers and sell players, everton think 6th is enough... and so forth.... well when we turned up last year utd were the ones who imploded. This is actually the first year where 5/6 teams could get in CL really and we ****ed oursevles up for first 4 months of season!!!! Wenger is not doing a great job at arsenal IMO his lack of cups won over 8 years shows he has not cos its not like ****e teams have not won cups have they! now they start spending and suddenly fa cup on the side cabinet and frankly they are prob hot favorites to retain as nondy bar us and villa are left... arsneal have always paid very well and just done enough. thats why players have consistently left that club. now they are winning and buying players we will see if they can get back close to top.... utd are spending a shedload too.. so anyone wanting to ge ti ntop 4 needs to spend a lot to compete with both.... and if all the challengers fall away arsenal will prob stop spending again.
Btw, why do people think we'll be playing 3-4-3 in five years time? Doubt whether it'll last till next season, let alone five seasons.
I agree, I think we well be looking at full backs this summer and what to do to get an actual back 4 though One has to wonder why are the kids playing 343 in youths and u21 though
We've already got full backs, just need a proper LB if he doesn't fancy Enrique or he's still injured because Moreno is about as good as Jones in defence.
