Four Spurs playing. Given our recent form, you’d expect them to score and give up three in the final fifte
Thats Townsend sorted for another year, he can live off this goal while putting in crap performances for us.
A bit generous to credit Mason with an assist - it was all Townsend's own work. He can strike the ball well in an England shirt.
I’ve got to add if you had one goal you really didn’t want to see this game, it was probably Townsend from a distance. This will justify the next 100 shots from distance, 67 of which will go into Row Z, and 33 into the exact midpoint of the keeper’s body mass.
I love the bit just after he scored when mason, kane and walker are all hugging townsend. Spurs should stick that picture on the official website.
Not such a bad game once an injury and the addition of Spurs players were able to overcome the crippling handicap of Roy’s lineup and tactics.
Oh, my mistake. Yeah, pretty much agree although I think Hodgson's more boring than rubbish and it's harsh on Wenger, he just needs a change of clubs, I think.
Not as generous as crediting Welbeck with a goal and assist against Lithuania The more Spurs players that got on the pitch, the more exciting we were. Great strike from Townsend and a good tackle from Mason to win the ball back for the goal. Thought Jagielka and Barkley showed what they were about tonight, Everton might be dragging their performances down but they're still good players clearly. That's about it for the positives, Spurs and those two.
Depends on what he means. Shot from distance? Yep. Scored from those shots? Not so much. Might be an idea to play Townsend down the left for us, as it makes him less predictable.
No Ronaldo in that one OS but still a shocker. All in all a fairly decent international break for Spurs. On the England front Kane did enough to justify much of the hype but didn't do so much that he'll be blown out of all proportion in the coming months. Townsend scores a cracking winner against Italy and Walker and Mason get involved too. Good performances from Carroll and Pritchard for the U21s too. I think all the non-English players had good breaks too, and no injuries that I can think of which is a blessing.
