Just look at the amount of games some of our squad have played.. Frank Fielding..........51.. Mark Little...............42(03) Derrick Williams......48(01) Aden Flint.................50.. Karleigh Osbourne...03(02) Korey Smith..............47(01) Wade Elliot...............36(07) Matt Smith...............20(03) JET...........................42(24) Scott Wagstaff..........31(22) George Saville..........06(04) Dave Richards.........00(00) Luke Freeman..........49(06) Greg Cunningham....30(15) Aaron Wilbraham....39(06) Kieran Agard............38(08) Marlon Pack.............39(09) Luke Ayling...............51(01) Joe Bryan.................43(05) James Taverier.........07(03) 6 of our players have appeared in over 40 games this season and 3 have appeared in 50, when you realise the size of our squad it bangs out what a remarkable performance and effort out team has made and what superb man management and team selection our manager has displayed. Bugger the results and how the stats show our performances, we can only prepare for and play the teams that are put before us, we have won silverware, progressed further in the cup, we are at the moment top of our league,10 points clear, we have the best GD and only 7 games to go. I can't believe we will fail now, we have the best set of players for years, we have a great manager in Cotts, our ground is coming on leaps and bounds, our owners are investing on all fronts, what a future we have and what a great and successful season we are having. As you can guess I am a very happy and satisfied Bristol City fan, I can only say thanks to all at Bristol City FC for the season so far, I could not give a rats ass to all the doubters and wish us all a good celebration in 7 games time. Up the City..
Frank Fielding has played in every minute of our season! Fair play to our fitness and medical team because it takes a great deal of effort to make sure this squad can play so many games and keep fit. We're lucky we haven't suffered any major injuries, but then again the teams at the top rarely do!
Let's say we land the title with two or three games remaining, I reckon we should let a lot of these players go on their holidays a bit earlier and give the rest of our squad (including the developmentals) a chance to secure their places for next season.
Look at the back of the programme very week - they all have more numbers than us Quality not Quantity Oh - one point on the injuries - the trip to South Africa / Botswana meant they got as fit as I have seen any City side - this must have helped stave off injuries as well
I am with you both on this one. My wife Ann commented at Wembley as to how many players we had on our books compared to the rest of the teams in League One and said we had achieved great results with a lot less resources in personnel. Although she has very little interest in football I consider her to be very astute especially when she has been hearing me rant on about Bristol City whilst I listen to Radio Bristol on match days for way too many years and has noticed a considerably less stressed Mike this year. Good on you Cotts for bringing sanity back to my life and my wife. Long may it continue.
So Scott Wagstaff has played in 31 games, but 22 came from the subs bench, but started 9 games? See Red Print he has nearly started in 20% of our games, bet you're pissed off now Would like to say I actually don't mind him and can't think of a game, where when he scores we then lose? So he could be a lucky omen if we ever get penalties bring him on like we did Steve Davies that time.
