All the same he can read my comment <ok> And who cares if my Rep Power is zero???

And when Hamilton makes a mistake everyone says oh here we go again Lewis slow and other things like that.

The fact is that even if he put in a very good lap he would have been 5th at least.

It was said in the commentry that Hamilton went out on old tyres that coulthard said were a maximum of 5 tenths slower (which was the gap to button) Lewis's lap wasn't so bad but it was a mystifing strategy call.

Edit: Unless they did the same to Button?

Justice done in terms of an all Red Bull front row, Lotus Renault look to have been well and truly shafted though. Di Resta and Maldonado continue to impress, hopefully they can both pick up a decent haul of points.

I think nico was on track to beat jenson maybe, he was only 0.8 off 1st and including a mistake, nico could get in front of button and di resta at the end of the race if he keeps it clean.

I am very happy with this qualifying session. Looking only at the line up, a Red Bull front row suggests nothing has changed and Red Bull are still dominating, but the laptimes show Alonso just 1 tenth behind Red Bull .. WOW! This is circuit where Red Bull should be dominating, just as they did at Barcelona.

I hope the rules stay as they are. If Renault engines cope fine this weekend, Red Bull will be shown up. If they continue to persist with this reliability excuse, Renault should ask the FIA if they can modify their engines - I doubt the FIA will refuse that request.

Yeah I do not think much has changed apart from possibly Mclaren slipping further back. Alonso again did an amazing job in quali and I think he should easily jump Vettel at the start and maybe challenge Webber.

According to Whitmarsh EBD rules are going to revert back to Valencia spec after this weekend.

PMC, it's crystal clear that Fred is Hamophobic. You could try to ignore his provocation instead of feeding it, you'll only encourage him.

It will be the same as it is currently - 10% off throttle. After Silverstone, the FIA will make a decision about this - but until I hear an official confirmation from the FIA, I won't believe anything. I certainly hope they don't revert to Valencia-spec for Germany.

Would just to add - Sector 2, with corners like corpse, maggots and beckets....

    Vettel - 36.879
    Alonso - 36.897
    Webber - 37.050

    Button - 37.695
    Hamilton - 37.919

EDIT: Very clever prediction from cowboyfromhell (see poll above)

I think for the race they are keeping them the same as they were for quali but I would not rule out them changing the regs while the cars are on their formation lap or something.

I hope they do not go back to the Valencia spec because I think that Webber deals with the no off throttle blowing better than Vettel so it would be more interesting concerning the WDC, it has also brought Alonso a bit closer to the RBs which again could make the WDC a bit more interesting. (I still expect Vettel to win the WDC though)

I hope everyone would be happy with that. We'll see what happens tomorrow but based on today's evidence the RB7 is not the best car because of some cheap loophole trick. It's the best because it's the best in many different areas. You can view it as a fatal flaw in F1 that if a team brings a significantly better car to the first race then the season is already sewn up but that's F1 and its stories span years rather than months.

Don't be ridiculous. They wouldn't change anything until the first pit stops.

I know it's still early to blow my trumpet, but I did say McLaren would get hurt more than the Red Bull's since their car was horrible before they copied RBR diffuser. Yes they have moved forward with upgrades through the year but it's looking like I was right.

apparently there is no advantage to anyone what so ever. Mercedes only called for some fuel to be released on off throttle because it helps with reliability. The 10% is barely helping performance wise. Then Horner decided to say that Renault have always used off-throttle to improve reliability as well, which I highly doubt.

The thing that is affecting Mclaren, in my opinion, is that the 'new rear wing' was worse than the last, and while everyone else has improved their rear wings to compensate for the off throttle 'ban', Mclaren haven't moved forward. I just don't know what is happening with their development. They have great race pace compared to the others, but it counts for nothing when good updates aren't coming in to help the quali times.

Did anyone say anything different? I think most people said Ferrari would gain most, McLaren would lost a lot and Renault and Mercedes would suffer significantly, but none of them would overhaul Red Bull. I certainly did.

Yes, it's hard now to see why Horner was in a huff; maybe we'll see something tomorrow but I doubt it. And yes, I think you're right about McLaren and last season was the same story of regressive development starting, if I remember correctly, at the British Grand Prix. I'm starting to think they should just forget this year, work out why they keep getting it wrong and rectify it for next season.

Majority said Renault/Red Bull cars would get hurt the most, even you said not to look at past results with this ban coming up.
