Those discounting the accuracy or validity of polls need to remember that exit polls in general elections only canvas a small proportion of the electorate,a couple of thousand usually,and those results are by-and-large reasonably accurate. Apart from the intentionally bodged-up ST poll the club shamefully ran last year (of which the data hasn't yet been disclosed),EVERY poll with a simple yes/no question regarding the name change,has been a resounding "no",including the one that counted,the vote of the FA Council. Every.single.one. You can bang on about the membership of CTWD/HCST being "only a couple of thousand",but many who are against the name change lack the desire to commit themselves to a protest group/organisation...it depends how passionately you are against it. As mentioned above,the Allams won't hold a simple Yes/no poll as they know what the answer will be....not even the Allams are THAT stupid.

THIS. There's one thing that Mr Allam is correct about - there IS a silent majority... Except that majority DON'T want to change the name. Like CITYfiley, I've yet to meet one supporter - just one, who's an advocate of changing the name (and who can present a rationale or logical argument as to why it's a good thing). The silent majority falls into the following categories: I don't want the name to change, however (A) I'm worried about what a vindictive owner may do to punish us so I didn't vote, or (B) I'm sick to the back teeth of his stupidity and I just want to enjoy the football. If a poll was conducted with a 100% guarantee of anonymity by a respected third party I sincerely believe the silent majority would be heard loud and clear.
I do not think for one moment that the silent majority fall into those two categories. I believe the majority view is simple. A: If the name changes, I will still go to matches. B: If Assem Allam stays I will still go to matches. C: If Assem Allam goes I will still go to matches. The silent majority may not want to see the name change, they may not want Assem Allam to stay or they may not want him to go, the only thing that is certain is that they will still go to matches at the KC. I'd not class Amber Nectar as part of the silent majority - I was referring to those mentioned in the post by CITYfiley, i.e. that a large majority of supporters want us to remain Hull City, yet for reasons alluded to in my previous post didn't vote in the ill-conceived ballot or join CTWD - hence quashing the unfounded rationale of that man with the gnome as an avatar. You're quite right that there'll always be the 'I'll still go whatever they're called' brigade, however an independent, anonymous and fair ballot of (1) Hull City or (2) Hull Tigers would allow this silent majority to be heard and would put Mr Allam's argument of a silent (supportive) majority to bed once and for all. The more the bullshit and lies are chipped away at, the sooner everyone will see the Emperor's New Clothes* (*apologies for any mental images this may cause)

J League teams embrace home names to drive commercial success. Yoshikazu Nonomura is recognised as one of the most commercially astute Japanese football leaders. He is President of Consadol Sapporo based on Hokkaido and in five years has apparently quadrupled their commercial revenues. To drive further commercial success he is changing their name for the 15/16 season to Consadol Sapporo Hokkaido in order to create a more explicit link with their home and to create greater commercial appeal to sponsors. Does he fancy joining us in Hull?
I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a joke, they're the Japanese equivalent of Barnsley, a mediocre division 2 side, who have spent years crippled with debt and their only claim to fame is being officially the worst team ever to play in the J League.
