So what's the consensus here then? What's the relevance of his record at Celtic? Was Barnes unfairly sacked as Celtic manager or what? Is he the victim of prejudice? Is it harder for black people to become football managers? Or has this reached 5 pages simply because he's a Liverpool leg-end?

I'd say looking at someone's skin colour is far too simplistic. It's also wrong.

 

Also, is it worth pointing out that the view put over by Barnes here completely ignore the hundreds of white managers that only ever get one chance? Or is that not racism so not worth highlighting...?

Sorry i meant statistics of how many white coaches have all these licences. If there are 40000 coaches (not saying there are) then obviously you expect way more white managers to this proportion

The statement about the 401 coaches with uefa a b and pro etc how do you know that the coaches have not been double counted. Im assuming you need to get a B and an A licence before you have the opportunity to get a pro licence

With respect to coaches do fitness coach, goal keeping coach not count towards a senior position. Many coaches and even physiopherapist adkins or translater mourinho learnt from bottom up.

 

Barnes must have a lot of self confidence or he must have been told that he is a good manager.

There are many managers who got sacked: big Sam, Pulis, holloway, pardew, bruce, mcclaren, Mackay, Dalglish, Mancini. And they all got back into a new job with another club. The list is endless.

Barnes obviously feels that he ought to be in the same category. Sacked by one club and given another chance by another club.

What I am not sure is whether he has built a reputation as a poor manager or whether he is not given another chance because owners are prejudiced (we all know who they are)
