If one black manager becomes a tremendous success there'll probably be a succession of blacks appointed to jobs as football managers.

    I really don't think so.

A few years ago there was loads of Scottish managers and hardly any English in the PL. Now it's more the other way around. I don't think one event instigated that, it just happened over time. At some point, there'll be more black managers, but it really isn't something we need to look at as a target. Focusing on skin colour as a target is as backward as proper racism is.

You obviously believe football boards act rationally.

There is only a small pool of black managers who have the qualifications to do the coaching, and when they are given a chance to prove themselves at a lower league club they don't take it.

John Barnes, Paul Ince, Chris Powell (Just a stocking filler as I couldn't think of any more black managers, he hasn't done bad at Charlton or Huddersfield in all honesty but still hasn't done as well as a Sean Dyche, Eddie Howe, etc) have not been successes, so to speak. The "Rooney Rule" is complete bullshit, and it is definitly not the answer.

Jimmy Hasselbank at Burton Albion is the best one out there. Doing a great job and getting on with his coaching badges. Interesting that contrary to what Clarke Carlisle and more recently Les Ferdinand have been banging on about, he doesn't believe 1 in 6 prospective managers short-listed for jobs in the future should be black; as he says what's the point. People should only get interviewed if their good enough!!!! My language Jimmy, good on yer!

It's 'Sikh' and there aren't any managers because there aren't any players, you can't really play properly in a turban.

How many black assistant managers & coaches are there? To become a manager surely being a respected coach is a good start! Even then good coaches don't neccesarilly become good managers!

I think it's more to do with inherent racism in society, Tobes. Whichever walk of life you're talking about, black people are still statistically under-represented at mangerial level.

I think the Rooney rule might not be a bad idea, it makes the owners have to consider black managers.

Womens football is on the up, so people like him with huge chips on their shoulders ought to consider it as a serious option or non-league instead of feeling entitled to get a job in the game and spitting their dummies out when they don't

whats really happening is a goddam conspiracy
When a black player is appointed , the players under him deliberately play ****e so they are quickly dispatched
so the white revolution can continue in football .
