I don't know if this post really belogs in the Music thread but it's about music.
Looking for different stuff to post and going back to the 60s started me thinking about those times, music and how things change. Up to say 1965 we only had Pop music and everything was included in that catagory. The along came 2 influences - Soul and Underground and the whole scene split.
Now, I went down the Underground route - early Floyd, Cream, Nice, Capt. Beefheart etc. We grew our hair even longer and wouldn't listen to Pop or Soul. My mates in liverpool mainly stayed in the Soul camp (if only to be able to get with the women). Because I didn't have a sharp suit and my hair was too long I couldn't get into the clubs - maybe the Beachcomber on Seel Street but certainly not into the Mardi. Liverpool was great for Soul 'cause we were still getting releases off the boats well before the general UK release. So although I heared the music it was not until many years later that I revisited it to find just how good it was. That then led me into Regge and ultimately into calypso and Soca.
That's why I like this thread. it provides such an eclectic mix - keep bringing it on!
