    I'm here UTR's, prepare for a DnB invasion <ok>
The majority of tracks I'll put up here I've owned on vinyl and have since replaced with ****ty MP3's. I lost all my vinyl years ago, long story.
Still DJing when I have time, using Virtual DJ and a crappy Gemini midi-controller because being a father and living in expensive California means I can't sink all my cash into Pioneer products :emoticon-0101-sadsm

I'll open with three of my all time favs

    Gotta love the bongos man!

I told you, you gotta love the bongos

Nice one, we now have our own little sad club for breakbeat freaks like us. Top selections mate. What I like about this not606 site upgrade is the notifications thing. I can keep up to date with on our little thread dedicated to all things breaks and basslines<cheers>

The Banrsley football forum takeover was started by my good mate Kiwi QPR. He found the least active forum on this site and for a laugh decided to try and make it more popular. It has now become a kind of secret chill out area for not just QPR suporters but other footy team fans. We all get along here and often just talk ****, well I do anyway:azn:.

I started this thread as I thought there would be other members like me with a love of this kind of music. This way I can get off my chest and revisit some beats without turning my other music thread into a drum and bass thread.

Anyway, some darkness from one of the best in my opinion...

Also I feel your pain with regards to loosing your vinyl. I was gutted but not surprised to read about technics discontinuing the 1210. I really miss getting on the turn tables and having a session. I think new technology is crap due to auto BPM synchronisation which takes out half the fun of the mixing.

I love all different eras of breakbeat like you, Bukem still likes to do his business on vinyl and he was a master at set building/mixing. I also love the fact that Nicky Blackmarket is a diehard QPR supporter, not that that really matters.

Love the idea of hijacking an unused board <laugh>
Not so much of the sad eh, I wouldn't change my past or memories for anything mate. If I thought about how much I've spent on drugs I could probably buy a Porsche 911 (not really of course, I wasn't that bad but pills were 15 quid a pop back then too, **** adds up pretty fast). I'm still a smoker now, spent ten years living in Amsterdam before I got to San Diego, mad squat parties in Holland.

    Dark you say?

or the very creepy and atmospheric

I based my mixing style off of Bukem. I love his track selection and random use of cutting to great effect. I like to chop tunes up but have to make sure the two really match up first and don't do to much in a set, maybe only one or two, depends if I really get into it. I really like to beat match, so many dj's now just use the airy bits in the middle to bring the next tune in and then fade out when the new beat kicks in. It's smooth and all that but I prefer more meat in my mixes. I like the old style of mixing where you would bring the next tune in early for a taster and then take it out again.

Mixing digitally is much easier but I use my platters in scratch mode so I still pull back and forth to cue up. It's handy having a few hot cues available too, you can get tracks in much quicker. I don't use auto sync but it is easy with a beat counter and waveforms in front of your face to get mixes spot on. Then it just comes to your style and how you use your gear. A 200 dollar set up keeps me from missing mixing but I do keep thinking of upgrading just a bit.

I'm telling you mate, if you miss mixing, get a Hercules RMX or something. It will do what you want it to, just.

If the hairs on your neck don't stand up from this chicks voice there's something wrong with you. I feel it every time I hear this tune, like now as I have it playing :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I have to add this as well because this was probably one of the best, most played A and B side combinations for me. DJ Crystl Meditation/Warp Drive is another. and Andy C/Shimon Night Flight/Quest

Mate, you know your tunes also, we will have all the classics covered in no time. As you have already mentioned there is still some good stuff being released for the purists like us, we just have to dig a little deeper these days.

LM1 is doing some good stuff right now, a bit more on the liquid side but with a more hard edged beat. I love most the different styles of DnB!
