I think the show of shirts is excellent and opens up the minds that football does not have to be so damned parochial and (some would like us to believe) aggressively tribal. An event where shirts can be worn with pride and folk can step outside of the expected and support their neighbours is something to be admired.

Why would Allam wear a NFU tie? Would you wear another Regiment's or another school's tie simply because you are attending one of their sporting events? It's because he doesn't understand, but I thought you might.

More importantly, did the tie clash with his yellow shirt?

And? My uncle was in a different regiment to me but would not dream of wearing my regiment's tie; the whole point is that it associates you with your own club at such events as this - it sends a useful message, rather than a misleading one.

So I am not allowed to express suprise, it simply did not occur to me or the 15 or so in the group that I went with to wear colours, in fact the general consensus was that it was NFU's day and we all felt the same. We felt like guests at another clubs party and it was a great day out. But I did buy a scarf and wore it to show support. That must make me oddly the same as Assem Allam, so no I don't understand your point. I would not wear a City shirt to watch Hull FC or Rovers at Wembley.

I always think it's a bit weird when I see people at City away games in FC or Rovers gear(usually jackets, not shirts).

If my son was involved with another club and that Club was not a rival of the one I was associated with, I would have absolutely no problem wearing the colours of his club.

Yet another example of someone having a dig at Assem Allam for absolutely no reason.

I saw someone in the Ferriby end wearing a Liverpool jacket and a Ferriby scarf.

It's an interesting point about wearing other colours and I'm not sure there is a right answer.

I wore my city scarf yesterday (but underneath my coat and only because I expected a wet and windy day). The other two people in my party bought Ferriby scarves but it feels kind of hypocritical doing that for a one-off occasion.

Having said that, I hope some of that merchandising money makes it's way into their coffers.

That being the case, you'd think that the runners up prize would easily have covered the costs.

Great result for them yesterday, and it is nice that the right team at Wembley came from 0-2 and won the game.

North Ferriby United have blocked me on Twitter, I wish I'd known yesterday, I'd have supported Wrexham. <laugh>

Is there any plans for having them do a lap of honour at the KC?
