...But it's not what KR were getting at. They were clearly having a dig at FC and would certainly Include City among the Wembley winners. Because we are. They didn't mention trophies for a reason.
Really enjoyed today, odd walking up Wembley Way and not feeling the buzz, that the last 3 trips up have had. Very pleased for NFU. Entertaining game that had all of the edge of a true Wembley Final. I was a bit surprised after the match to see a group sitting in a pub wearing City shirts though.
There were some people wearing City shirts at Wembely, which I found to be a little disrespectful to Ferriby. A lot of fans treat them like they're a part of our club, when in reality they're a totally seperate entity. I thought it looked cheap and tacky, why on Earth would you wear your city shirt to another game unless City were playing? Ridiculous. Also ridiculous was Assem Allam wearing what looked like a NFU tie and Ehab wearing a scarf. I suppose their family has big ties to the club but it still looked wrong.
It's an odd one this. I can appreciate both sides. I personally wore nothing to do with HCFC and neither did my sons, the reason being, to us, it just didn't feel right. We were there to support NFU a local club, it had nothing to do with HCFC. However, thinking rationally, wearing a City shirt is like stating "We are HCFC and we are here to support our VERY local friends". They aren't our rivals and never will be so I can appreciate how some City fans might feel Okay with wearing their own colours. We had proper NFU fans round us and it was pretty obvious pretty quickly that we weren't. There was no awkwardness, no animosity or anything, in fact we were constantly discussing the players and the game and all was well and jovial. I don't think there's a right or wrong answer to it, you just go with how you feel and try not to offend people.
I wasn't there, but if i was i'd have probably worn a City shirt, and Ferriby scarf. I'd have been there to support N Ferriby,so how that can be seen as disrespectful ?
No, Steve Forster owns it and he's married to Allams daughter. Assem and Ehab don't have any control over it at all. Your first post is exactly why I found it a little belittling that people wore City shirts. It was Ferriby's day, the supporters there were there to follow Ferriby and it had nothing to do with City. I like the idea of fans of City going along to watch Ferriby and support them on the Wembely stage, but you wouldn't see Man City fans turning up to Bury City games wearing Sky Blue, or Scousers turning up to a Vauxhall Motors game in an Everton shirt. It just came across as a little patronising.
Maybe they would, but i really doubt it. Hull City have supported N Ferriby for years, through the likes of the Billy Bly. They are very appreciative of those games, and the extra revenue it brings them.
far too picky. nfu players could tell at a glance that those in city tops were there to support them. they couldn't have expected people turning up to see them for possibly the one and only time to shell out for a ferriby shirt on top of the expense of making the trip.
I honestly don't think it matters. I'm going to watch Adelaide United play next weekend but don't own a top, so I'll probably wear an old Arsenal shirt I have (don't ask why I have one of those, and no I never followed them when I was younger) but I don't think Adelaide fans or players would give a ****.
I don't think it really matters, they were always going to have a lot of City fans attending, there were ten times as many fans as they normally attract. It was also the same for both teams, there were loads in the Wrexham end in Liverpool shirts.
I was suprised, that's all. None of our group wore any colours, but I bought a scarf at Wembley. I gave it away at the end to a kid from one of NFU boys teams. I did not think it was disrespectful, it just suprised me and I could not understand why someone would put a City shirt on to go to watch another team. As for Assem Allam wearing an NFU tie, I would not have expected anything less, from ANY guest of a club.
I notice Parnaby was sat with the Allam's yesterday, maybe we'll get that open top bus tour of the East Riding after all.
