    Lots of wishful thinking here.

Reckon we will finish on 75-78 points. 2nd or 3rd.

At least 5 games they could drop points in. 4 of which could easily be defeats.

Sure. They would need to move from a current average of just under 1.8 points per game to nearly 2.8 points for the last 8 matches. That's better than a title winning run.

Think everyone is worried we will get Champions League football and bring some of the worlds best to Old Trafford. After being told we are a mid table team and will never play Champions League football again and will do a Leeds/Portsmouth <laugh><laugh><laugh>

The Arsenal machine rolls on then. Who is to say they won't win all their last 8 games and finish on 87 points. If they carry on this form they will.

If I had to bet I think we will finish 2nd.

Chelsea are unlikely to slip up at this point IMO.

Yes you are right I thought they had played 30 games not 31. So 84 points if Arsenal win all their games left which will probably win them the title.

2nd or 3rd is good with 2nd better obviously, but the best thing about getting one of these positions means automatic qualification to the UCL, which makes life much easier to the start of our season, and allows better preparation, and we all remember how tricky that Bestikas qualifier was.

Seeing as Chelsea have 70 and 8 games remaining i'd doubt it.

I am assuming that Arsenal beat Chelsea. If they do then the run in could be very close. People forget how the end of a season can throw up strange results.
Given form I am backing Arsenal to win the league.

So given Chelsea's form of only dropping 6 points from their last 10 league games, you think they'll now drop 9 points in their next 8 games??? And not only that but arsenal will win every one of our remaining games as well? You can't say you're 'going with form' on your prediction if you're not actually going to go with current form of both teams.

Easy now, you might offend someone if you try to be too positive about our Arsenal.

    oops! Too late :p

It's not positive, it's illogical. But I forget, anything other than 'Arsenal will win the quadruple' is negative on here.

Why can't we have sensible posts talking about football without saying every one of our players is irreplaceable or that we are on target to win the league?

The football results yesterday were good for us and United but bad for Liverpool and Saints.
If Theo wants to go then sell him as All of our players are replaceable.

we aren't on target to win the league but we can try to get 2nd place which will be a step up from last season.
then we can all moan and bitch about how we had a ****e start to season and what-if we had a better start or a new manager then we would have won it.

imo the title race isn't over until it has been won - so we are contenders as are 3 others who like us are chasing Chelsea and we won't give up till the end of the season !

Agreed. It isn't over until Chelsea win it out right. We have to keep our good form going and play even better, which I think is possible. We still have some more room to improve with the players we have, which would give us a good platform for next season. Also we have Chelsea to play so if we beat them then the Maureen jinx will be over for Arsene, which I feel is necessary if we hope to win the league.

So retaining the FA cup, grabbing 2nd and beating Maureen would top off a good season for us!

I don't think CINI is being negative, but realistic. Even Wenger is consistently saying we're not title challengers and we should concentrate on what we can actually achieve, which is top 4 and second place.

The fact is as CINI said, Chelsea would have to drop a hell of a lot of points while we need to be perfect, which is HIGHLY UNLIKELY, how is that being negative or down? It's just a fact of life. People need to stop talking about unrealistic goals and concentrate on what's actually realistic, as Wenger says, and that's top 4.

Highly unlikely that arsenal or any of the other challengers will catch Chelsea. But there is a small possibility:

Chelsea lose against Arsenal, draw against United and Liverpool: 84 points

Arsenal win all remaining matches: 84 points.

Unlikely but not that impossible <ok>

It is not illogical at all. Many times teams have recovered points in the last few weeks of a season because the pressure is so high and it is common for teams in front to be caught. It is less likely that Arsenal will win it than Chelsea but not illogical to suggest it. I am sticking to my view that I believe Arsenal can still win the league.

For instance how unrealistic and illogical is it that Chelsea draw away to QPR next week (they have dropped points there a lot) and Arsenal beat Burnley and then the following week Chelsea lose to Utd when Arsenal is playing in the Cup. If that short term scenario were to happen Arsenal would be 5 points behind on the same games with 6 matches left including Arsenal vs Chelsea at the Emirates. Is that so beyond the bounds of possibility that it is illogical?

I do not know what your sensible posts might look like but I think talking about the permutations of the title run in is sensible at this stage of the season with 4 teams well in the race.
