Yeah and I have it on good authority he pioneered the Nestlé powdered milk for babies scam circa 1977. He also Votes UKIP, reads the Daily Mail and supports Portsmouth.
CBK of all the people on this site I thought you were of an age where you would have been educated prior to the 1960s and would therefore have a well developed and high standard of English comprehension being able to read what is written rather than what you would like to see written. I will remind you of what I wrote: "Should I renew my season ticket or should I give the money to Save the Children?" That is a rhetorical question and sadly one to which I received no definite mandate from our fellow fans. At no time did I say I would not renew my season ticket. I can however live with my conscience as I have made contributions to Childrens charities.
for godders sake ( ), cry me a river!!!! i raised over £1400 for a blind childrens charity this year but you dont hear me harping on about it!!!! wait a minute....... seriously godders you state to have had such a good education etc but surely have you heard of the word BANTER?????? whilst your at it, google "chill pill"
Well done Saintbirdseye your a credit to society and your efforts shame us all. I do not normally boast of my donations to charity but when it is suggested I am hypocritical and insincere I have to defend myself.
We're cancelling Sky anyway, every time it's rains heavily we get no signal for about 2 weeks. Useless. Saves us over £500 a year which contributes towards a holiday. Murdoch's had every government in his back pocket for the past 30 years and that isn't going to change now unfortunately.
the weight of public opinion has forced Murdoch to close the NOTW. Once again a cynical attempt to defuse the situation and try and distance the rest of his rotten media empire from this scandal and to try and give Cameron the wriggle room not to stop him buying 100% of SKY. Murdoch has shown a callous disregard for the welfare of the NOTW employees who have been thrown on the scrapheap to form a human shield around Murdoch and his cronies
I rarely buy papers because so many things now make me angry. Don't want to be angry all the time (you wouldn't like me when I'm angry).
I do not, in general, buy newspapers; although I do sometimes buy the 'I' and neither do I subscribe to Sky (I have BT Vision). The latter because it is Murdoch and I made a concious decision to purchase something non-Murdoch. However, it would seem from recent comments surfacing in the press and from Max Clifford is the almost all Fleet Street has been up to the same dirty tricks. What is not clear is why on the NOTW has been targetted by the police, as no other papers appear to be under investigation. You may all recall that the whole episode of phone hacking was carried by only the Guardian; which might suggest the others were not so keen to raise the profile of the case... You may all find yourself boycotting most of the newspapers in the near future and I for one, would not be sad to see the demise of Fleet Street.
The moral high ground gives a great viewpoint but I can't watch football on television from there. All big business looks for the edge. Some are more corrupt than others. I know where my line is drawn. You draw yours where you want. I reckon mine will be just off centre. Far from perfect but with a reasonably clear conscience. Of course this is relavent to this site. We want to be on Sky now we are winning. And, by the way, are we still a South Coast Club? I don't read the sun
I don't think you have to say allegedly because all the other media are calling it the phone hacking scandal as they have admitted to the wrongdoing in some aspects. People saying what difference does it make should realise that the more we talk about such things, including the crisis in Greece, the banking bonuses etc. we can see that our current system is failing and needs to change. The only way it will change is by the public talking about and demanding action. Rupert Murdoch has far too much sway over this countries political agenda. Look at all these oligopolies that have been created to make this country an apparently free market economy, whilst the publics welfare and freedom is eroded. This amusing video is quite a nice precis of the ludicrous society we live in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDh0Cvsw9Jk
I think the only way to rid oneself of all these rotten connections to modern society, and the people who now control world affairs, would be to live in a hermitage. Judging by Godders new avatar, he looks to have spent the last 40 years in a cave.
pompeymeowth you must be the only person on not 606 who does not have me on their ignore button. My new avatar is to reflect my new, more humble, tolerant, forgiving and saintly approach to life.
Did someone say something I haven't blocked you (yet!) Godders. There's a big difference between someone having a different opinion and someone being offensive.
I haven't blocked St Godders either... Yet. Whether you like it or not he has got everyone agitated and there has been a big response to his postings. My main issue is the suspicion that the "opinions expressed may not coincide with his own" so I don't know what he really thinks most of the time. With respect to Murdoch, I have always avoided Murdoch papers and, to my children's annoyance, will not subscribe to Sky. Neither would I buy Cape fruit during the apartheid years. Should everyone cancel their Sky subscriptions? Well, that's a personal decision, but those who watch Sky have forfeited their right to complain about how the money has ruined the sport in my opinion.
I can't ignore anyone, being one of the faces on here, but I certainly wouldn't ignore you St G. Who is it, Francis of Assisi?
