Over the last 10 years we have had some good strikers and some... less good strikers. My question is who is the best we have had in the last 10 years? Would you have Beattie or Lambert? Or maybe Kevin Phillips? Loads of others that were pretty good but I think those 3 are the only ones that would get in to the current team.

I suppose he might. I was umming and aahing about him. With the way we play he definitely would but ability wise he isn't much of an improvement on pelle

Marians Pahars just about gets into the last 10 years, so he also has to be in with a shout. Any of them would struggle to knock Rickie off his perch though.

Honorable mentions for Connolly / Ormerod not the best strikers but worked bloody hard!!!!

I think Beattie for me. don't get me wrong I love Super Rickie but Beattie is the guy that got me into football, and he was very good between 02 and 04/05. Very quick and good finisher. Rickie in his prime would have been quality in the prem as well though I suppose... was tiring a bit by the time he/we reached the premises. ..

For me it's Lambert anyway but, just to be pedantic, Beattie left more than 10 years ago.

I've heard that Koeman doesn't particularly rate Gallagher... which kind of goes against the general grain at the club.

From what I've seen of Gallagher I reluctantly have to agree with him. Not saying he's forever poor, but he's not good enough at the moment. Not for this team anyway. Like Les Reed, I'm against fledging players going out on indiscriminate loans to the wrong club. If he went to the right club, who would nurture him and give him the opportunity of regular first team football, then yes.

Gallagher suffered a personal loss and a bad injury at just the wrong time for his development. I hate to say it, but our youngsters may find it harder to break through if we have serious aspirations of the big time. The best will still make it, but the next tranche of players may find it very hard to get game time.
