For Liverpool to compete with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United in terms of gate receipts they need a bigger capacity Stadium. To the traditionalists, "This is Anfield" is not something to be messed with, but the owner John Henry would like to maximise income, so a move to Stanley Park cannot be rulled out, and I can see it happening.Tom and George failure to build a new stadium caused a setback of about five years for Liverpool.
I suggest move. It would create hundreads of jobs locally for the demolishion & building of the new ground It would create thousands of new homes It will get rid of all of the derelict homes in the anfield area (which in turn will reduce local crime) It gives the city of Liverpool something ultra modern to be proud of and best of all it wont dent the clubs finances as the naming rights will pay for it. Anfield has history and a spirit wich won't ever be replicated but we're not in the 1960's anymore and for a team to constantly challenge in the 21st century you need a 21st century stadium, Liverpool needs a 21st Century stadium
Agreed - we must move to a new stadium top open up a whole new world of commercial opportunity. I hate talking about business when I'm discussing football but business and money are vital to compete in the modern game. It will be hard to recreate the same atmosphere and history that Anfield has seen over the decades but perhaps a fresh start in a new stadium will provide the impetus to create our own history.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Arsenals new stadium make their game-day income go up by over 100% in their first season in the Emirates? I remember reading somethingto that effect recently???

We should move but not have ridiculous prices for tickets like the way Arsenal have done. A new stadium with room for extension would also benefit us when it comes to the UEFA fair play rules.
Anfield will be sorely missed, but Stanley Park makes a lot of sense. If I'm being honest, and I know some people might slate me. I want a joint stadium with Everton - It would make perfect business sense for us both. An Easy 80k+ seater stadium, imagine the derbys.... Perhaps it would re-establish the "friendly derby" again, and make it a little less hostile.
The other thing to bear in mind is the impact will have on the waiting list for season tickets. Let's just make sure we don't get Etihad as the stadium sponsor (apparently it translates as 'united?') Moving to a new location and a new stadium creates a new era for liverpool aswell. The financial side will be sorted by FSG with naming rights and so on. I also think that the revenue we generate will help to compete with the clubs who are currently in the top 4 at the moment. The clubs that finished in the top 4 have larger stadium capacity and have more money to spend. Overall i will be upset at moving from anfield as this is our home and the history that goes with it but we should start a new chapter at Liverpool Football Club
Does anyone know the expansion potential of anfield. I mean it's all well and good spending loads and expanding to 60k, but what about when you need to expand again? will you then have to move? I mean, it's all ifs,buts and maybe's until something happens, but with the popularity of the sport continuously increasing, so will ticket selling potential.
Can't be bothered with this new name business, our ground is called Anfield new Anfield would be acceptable but not The Dr Pepper Stadium or something, you won't find Man Utd changing Old Trafford! There are plenty of ways of making money we should not name the stadium for sponsor reasons. I am strongly apposed to this.

Right next door to the Mersey retail park. As you can see the main Liverpool to London rail line runs at the back of it, and the roads are far better that getting trapped up in L4 for an hour after the game. You might even convince all the people who go after 80 minutes to stay til the end. The airports is just across the road. There is lots of room all around for other companies who would benefit from the match day traffic to set up business.
