He has form - including stories about him not being happy playing second string to Ben Davies & making noises about leaving before his injury and again there was speculation in January. Should have bought a decent left back as soon as Davies was sold (not sold Davies would have been a better move IMO). Is full back a problem? Tiandelli gone, Jazz gone, Rangel dumped - all of whom I would prefer to see inn the team than Neil Taylor. That leaves us with very short of cover.
The bi annual piss hunt has started , the guy is not as good as he thinks he is and that was always the danger with us not bringing in a direct replacement for him , he probably believes he's got no competition for his position
Is any player worth about £2m a year? Nope not in my opinion, would I in his position would try and get this amount ? Damned right I would! I would look at that I have a limited playing career and I want to get as much as I can out of it. Some are saying he's an ordinary player, that maybe so, but would we be saying the same if it was some hot shot player? For example would be saying this for Bony if he was still with us? The fact is the players are at the top of the game, and we are turning over £100m a year, that is soon to increase by 20%-30% with the new deal , so of course players will be asking for a share of that
I say make him 1 offer if he refuses let him go and bring in better, that wouldn't be to difficult. He is more than replaceable at LB and is no more than average at this level. I do worry though that he is one of GM mates and will get what he wants.
The one thing in his favour is that he is naturally left footed , there's not too many of those about . the thing that gets my goat is regardless of where we are in the season it's always his name that comes up about a move away , is he better than Ben Davies , debateable but just look how his season's panned out for him .
The name of the player is irrelevant. What is more concerning is the money we have to pay in wages has gone through the roof that puts the club that has been run so well into a club that should we get relegated would put the club in jeopardy of having a massive wage bill in the lower leagues. Having been so prudent in staying within our means and paying in accordance of our wage policy we still got success and we now find the players have turned the table around and are demanding obscene amounts of wages to stay........The pressure to stay in the premiership now has increased.....
Where did you see that?..........No player would take a massive pay cut but their bonuses for winning and drawing would be the only thing clubs are able to cut.....Its very rare that a player would agree in his contract that he will take a pay cut in the event of relegation.....

Relegation Salary Cuts are common place in the Premier League, and in the very near future it may become mandatory for all players. QPR revealed 60% of its players had the clause, Aston Villa have all of the players into the clause, Kevin Phillips revealed Sunderland had this in place years ago. Last year the FA met with club chairmen and they started discussions to amend the "Standard Player Contracts", every player in the English league must sign it and it overrides anything in their contract with their club. The agents for players are very well aware of this type of model of contract as it is place in nearly every major European league. In Germany all players are subject to salary cuts upon relegation and this is what the FA is looking to introduce, but it won't suddenly spark a nightmare for players already in the English leagues... Italy, France and Spain are also looking into copying Germany's lead of total salary cut enforcement. The Standard Contracts outline this action could happen in the future, the players contract with the club will say any club level exemption will be overrided by any Standard Contract changes. If the English FA (or any FA in Europe for that matter) don't see the two in tow then the player will not be registered to play.
I remember Huw saying that all our players are on such a contract, and if we are relegated I think players would have clauses to leave the club should the buying club meet certain conditions like valuations and so on.
