The council didn't buy their ground. Humberside County Council owned the land. Paid for the ground to be built (I think) and then leased it to Rovers at a peppercorn rent. With the demise of Humberside the agreement was passed onto Hull City Council.
Except it isn't. City play only 50% more games than FC but contribute the money from nearly 6 times as many tickets. City pay for policing the SMC pay for FC. A funny going on in a rugby town. You would think the football club would be subsidised by the rugby clubs in a rugby mad city. One thing this does show is that despite what many FC fans believe and the spouting by the likes of Geraghty bout rugby league in Hull the most important club as far as getting the KC up and running was the involvement of City.
The Premier Club used to be run by the SMC, the Allam's transferred it to City ahead of this season to get out of the arrangement, it's definitely been scrapped.
Someone did really well out of the sale of the old craven park site. I dont even mind FC playing at the kc. Its just when they start moaning about the smc trying to cut costs. Why do they need all four stands open for 8000 fans surely they can see thats daft.
Isn't the West Upper already closed for FC games, with the South Stand potentially being closed for the 2016 season?
So your essentially confirming what I said, the payments are scaled and dependant on the clubs attendance and income. As for the 'rugby mad city' bollocks, if you buy into that whole arguement your as bad as they are, its a subjective concept and really not worth getting wound up about.
You don't appear to grasp things. How is a 50% more use of the stadium equitable with a 600% higher contribution to the SMC. It is a reflection of City's progress compared to FCs but anyone with any sense always knew that given a level playing field, ie competing at the top level, City would have far larger crowds. I think some councillors envisaged a nice shiny stadium to ensure FC's survival with City there purely because they needed a football club to justify the project. They saw FCdominating the small world of rugby league whilst City bumbled along in the big world of football achieving nothing but helping FC survive. They didn't foresee City getting into the top flight for the first time in their history. That is obvious from the poor design of the KC with no thought given to capacity crowds and segregation.
Yeah the west upper has being closed for years. They has being talk about the south stand being closing. But they all moaning about it saying its wrong. Why is it wrong. People should be asking how do we stop the stadium and the airco losing money.
If you add the 7500 ave. home attendance of HKR thats over 19000 who enjoy rugby which isn't bad at all.
If that's the method, you need to add the tens of thousands of fans of football clubs other than City. I don't know why it is, but the comparison with football seems to be almost always fc fans. Rovers fans seem to like their sport in its own right with no need of the inferiority complex.
They use 100% of the pitch and the stadium. That they can't sell it out is neither here nor there. It's a joint stadium that one club benefits from for little cost.
