I think some are underestimating Arsenal - this is their crunch period and it's when they usually step up and get results - which they have been doing.

They have an experienced manager who knows what he's doing and they have some superstars who are capable of winning games.

Personally, I think they're nailed on for Top 4. It's the final place which is up for grabs.
You've got to beat them next weekend to remain in the race imo, it's as simple as that.

It's even simpler than that - we have to beat them just to remain an outside chance of remaining in the race.

If Mertesacker plays we could be in trouble. Hopefully Wenger picks Gabriel and Koscielny. With Bellerin there too you won't be able to outpace us which should alleviate some of the difficulties you've caused us in the past. Having said that, Liverpool are still one of the teams that have caused us serious issues in the last year or two. It might have been 2-2 at Anfield but we got dominated. I'm nervous (though secretly hope that me feeling nervous means we'll win 7-0).

True, but our goal machine Skrtel is out, so that's probably a relief for your defence.

For me the real questions are;

How much possession will lfC have (how much will arsenal let us have)

And

How much space will lfC players get? I can't see arsenal shutting space down around coutinho as much as utd did for example

Let's face it lfC cannot defend v giroud let alone Sanchez so it's all about can lfC have enough possession to make arsenal worry and to make our chance

I'd go for this.

Migs
Can
Toure
Sakho
Marko
Hendo
Lucas if fit, Allen if not
Moreno
Lallana
Couthino
Balotelli

Migs
Can - Toure - Sakho
Marko - Hendo - Lucas - Enrique
Lallana - Coutinho
Sterling

Toure must replace Skrtel. He brings experience and leadership plus he's decent in the air and he can sweep up fairly well too, as best a fit bar Skrtel for the central CB. A defence of Can, Sakho and Lovren would scare the **** out of me too!

Get Sterling back further forward. With Sturridge missing, I'd actually put him up top (Balotelli can continue being a impact player IMO, its been working for him so why change it?). Pushing sterling further forward means we need someone on the right so bring Marko back in, he found form in this position not so long ago and he's gone quiet since being move and eventually resulting in him getting dropped.

I would drop Lallana too but we lack options. Of course, we may not have a choice should he not recover from injury, in which case move Sterling back and play Mario.

Moreno has been pants recently but the lack of options is somewhat telling. Bring Enrique back in for a couple of games, least we know he'll get back to defend, possibly a better end product when attacking too but that's not saying much.

Lastly, Allen's had a decent run but was raped on live national television last week so could do with a bit of recovery. Get Lucas back in there to protect that seemingly fragile again defence.

It's not the best looking eleven but I think its the best we can muster considering current form and availability.

One up front has only really worked well for us this year when Sterling has been that man. Shame he can't finish that well really. Sturridge, has looked half the player of last season so we are effectively strikerless.....which, given what we spent last year is a bit scary <yikes>

I hope Lallana is not used as a RWB. I think I'd actually prefer Johnson there than him <yikes> <yikes>

The writing was on the wall before last weeks game and BR got the tactics all wrong (or LvG got them right...whatever).....Massive game now, a must win. But I fear that we may struggle against an in form Arsenal if BR sends us out in the same way. Lose and we're out of the top 4 race. Massive game.

Lose and we could be 7th after the weekend.

Need Villa to get at least a draw at the Mancs. Keeping the gap at 5 points will be a significant achievement.

Hope you nick a draw but the reality is, you are getting hammered. Literally no chance of winning this game.

Putting a lot of hope on a side who are frankly awful. Sherwood won once hasnt he? Against one of one two sides worse than Villa.

yeah..........

given 3rd are playing 5th and one side has "literally no chance" and then villa seemingly have absolutely no chance at utd too... seems uir should be this house on a double here.

You have no striker, Sterling is a rubbish finisher. The defence you will line up woth will rival the worst ever seen im this division, and Arsenals midfield will run rings around you.

I hope you nick a draw but I just cant see it. The United loss has done more damage than imaginable.

Its great :D
