I'm not a manc and I think he is class. I'm from DUrham - born in Chester-le-Street lived my entire life in the county and never further than 15 miles from Sunderland. He is a quality footballer and looks every bit the part since moving back to his best position
I find it ridiculous that people can just say 'He's ****' without justification. His medals, goal record, stats all back up my opinion but just because he can't single handedly win a world cup (Neither can Messi or Ronaldo by the way) he's absolutely garbage.
Bullshit - no they wouldn't - AJ deserved it last season but Andros Townsend got picked ahead of him so that completely rules out that theory. SKP before that and numerous others.
I'm a Sunderland fan, not an England fan, as such I support the international teams that Sunderland players play for. If you want to keep going down to wembley and support the FA's boys and Roy. Go for it.
Never support another country playing against England but we are so boring and have left behind by other countries in terms of style and attacking play in a similar way to our one day cricket team. When I was younger I had no cares in the world so supporting Sunderland/England was important. Sunderland is in the blood but have bigger things to worry about than the national team.
I might watch the match tonight, then again I might watch repeats of Judge Judy on Reality+1. I am, as of yet, undecided!
I think the problem is that he was massively overrated when he was younger and when he failed to live up to that hype he became massively underrated. Ridiculous really. He's a great footballer. He'll never be among the elite, for me, because of the weight he carries but he's class all the same.
It's not bullshit jono has done nothing to prove he should be playing for England. Super kev was nothing without SNQ. You will be saying next that catts should be picked. I think you are sprouting the bullshit.
It's funny innit, why that 'weight' bothers people so much. He's often been recorded as one of the fastest players on the planet. I think only Sterling in the England side from last summer's world cup was clocked faster than him as well. I don't believe he was overrated as a youth either, he come to United and won everything (apart from the FA Cup) his debut was as an 18 year old in a Champions League game where he smashed 3 past Fenerbahce. What followed was a landslide of trophies for a team being challenged by the mega millions of Russian and Arab owners, he was always the difference, that's why both clubs tried to prise him away from United. I'd take Rooney over any striker in this league, without even thinking about it. Only Aguero comes close but he's a cripple.
I'm not so sure about that Bass. SKP seems to have kept scoring long after he left us. He was certainly on a silver streak while he was with us, but the goals didn't seem to dry up afterwards either I'll have to look it up. Edit 246 goals in 580 games. 24 with Watford - 3 yrs 113 with us - 6 yrs 109 afterwards - 10 years
What a load of ****e - Johnno last season scored 10 goals in 9 games leading up to the announcement of the England squad - in that same period Andros Townsend scored one and had 0 assists (johnno had 4 assists) and Townsend got picked - are you telling me that Johnson didn;t deserve it at that point? He was, at the time of the squad, the most in form winger (of any nationality) in the premier league. And you think I spout bullshit? Also - because our striker, who was voted number one striker in EUROPE (still the only English player every to win this award) had a great partnership with Niall Quinn he didn;t deserve an England place? you obviously know little about football then! Darren Bent is another one - played for us and scored 20 odd goals yet he didn;t get picked - only one englishman scored more and he got picked - also 3 other strikers who scored less - why should Bent not have been picked? As soon as he went to Villa England made him first choice. Basically proves everything I've said and that I don't spout bullshit!
Well I'm no huge expert in that I don't watch loads of United games or England games either to be honest but going on what I've seen of Rooney the last few years he must either have suspect fitness levels or a suspect attitude. At times he looks sluggish, slow and generally off the pace of the game. I think he was seen as a world class player (same league as Ronaldo and Messi) when in my eyes he wasn't there not by a long shot. England fans, with that weight of expectation thought that he'd win something, he never has and people have spun it on his head saying he's no good which is obviously daft. The lad is a class natural footballer, no doubt about that.
He's been known to look disinterested at times, more often than not it was when he was either just back from injury or playing for David Moyes. He's not a naturally fit person, I'd imagine he has to work very hard at it, but when he's on form he just controls games effortlessly. I get what you're saying mate, aged 18 yeah, he was probably better than both players when they were around that age, certainly better than Ronaldo. Fergie matured him into the complete striker though, he was too raw at that young age and that was never going to work playing in a team, under Fergie that had to work together. Ronaldo was never going to be able to be controlled like Rooney was, he had to go, he wants to be centre stage and has a massive personal agenda to fulfil, Rooney doesn't have that, he just wants to be part of a great team. Gary Neville will let rip about that England squad sooner or later, I absolutely guarantee it, from the 2000's to the team he coaches now, something has been rotten in that side for years. Rumour has it Owen was the worst of the lot.
I did say he was brilliant, just the last few seasons he is not doing it for me I watch a lot of Man u games.
So your trying to say you know better then the England managers at the time. Now who is talking bullshit.
Makes sense. English footballers, on the whole, just don't seem very professional to me. That's from bringing them through a rotten youth system.
Cool. Just as well he's doing it for United and not for you then innit Lots of changes at United these last few seasons, I'd dread to think how far we'd have fallen without the likes of Rooney carrying us.
