    From the Express:

LEEDS, Hull and Preston are all chasing former Everton goalkeeper Iain Turner, who is available on a free transfer.

Turner, 27, rejected a new deal from Everton because he wants first-team football.

Sheffield United are also interested in Turner, who has been previously included in Craig Levein’s Scotland squad.

Well, if he's looking for first team football, coming here probably isn't the best option <ok>

I thought a deal with PNE was already close, I think Browny is pretty keen to recruit him ahead of the new season...

Didnt PNE send their keeper training with Everton purely so they could get Turner?

I suspect Everton & PNE have strong links, would be the obvious choice.. depends where we are with Gulasci & Basso ATM, only NP knows..

    That doesn't make sense!

We have signed Gulasci from the bindippers and presumably included in that will be the stipulation that, when fit, he starts. Thus, any other goalkeeper signing will be a stiff in case Gulasc gets injured, like Hanneman or Basso.

Turner is either a second string Premiership player or a first choice Championship player.

This will be the press knowing we are in the market for keepers, adding our name to a list of suitors for Turner.

If it is true he will surely choose either first choice at Scum or Preston (where he was last season) over bench-warming at the KC.

I think that deal was dependent on Lonergan moving to Leeds first, as that deal fell through, they're probably out the running, at least for now.

I think ideally, we'd like two keepers who are both first choice quality, just in case we have another situation like we did with Mannone last season. I do agree that the fact that they're unlikely to be first choice will stop us sorting anything with either Hahnemann or Turner, Gulasci and Basso still look the most likely from those suggested so far.

    Ahh, that was it.

Leeds are being linked with every keeper about, it wouldn't surprise me if they were actually in for Dudek. Goalkeepers at TWS never last very long anyway <whistle>

Ideally we would sign permanently two good reserve goalie from the Prem, but that's not going to happen now.

Did I mention we should have kept Matt Duke? <whistle>

I would have happily had him as a number 2, but NP clarly doesn't rate him. Only time will tell if it was the right decision to let Dukey go....

I know I'm going to get both barrels here, but, IMO Duke was an average 2nd choice keeper. If he was any better then the past 4/5 managers would have played him, he was as good as Myhill but neither set the world alight. Admittedly it's a hard position to play and to be good you've got to be very good, hopefully whoever we bring in Corrigan can get the best out of them

Another goalie being linked with a move to us by the national press (okay the Star!).

Don't know that much abour him other that he was at Everton (presume his contract has just run out and he is a free agent?) he is 27 and was on loan at Preston last season.

Does anyone else know much about him? Would he likely be our No1 over Gulacsi? Is he a better bet than Basso?:emoticon-0138-think

I merged this Farsley, as we already had one Turner thread on the go, I don't think this one's likely at all. <ok>

It was the star who were first with the gulacsi story. I'd say it's possible anyway, gulacsi and one of basso, hahnemann, turner or whoever really. I actually rate turner so he'd be my choice
