I am getting very concerned about the thread that stretch long into the night. When the good nights start its like watching the ****ing waltons. Goodnight grandpa Good night Marie Ellen Good night momma Good night John boy. Give ur heads a shake you soppy ****s.
It would answer a lot of questions as to why he did it, has TC got a pilots licence does anyone know?
First thing I noticed on here were the facilities, or how good the forum was laid out; obviously getting to know the lads took a bit longer. I had been reading the comments for a few weeks before signing up. There was a lot of humour, banter, sensible debate and, no abuse. I also saw what you previously mentioned Elland and that was the respect members showed each other towards differing opinions and views. Once I realised you were the moderator, I could see you cared about the forum and how it was run. So, I packed me bags and toothbrush and hailed a taxi. After I first joined JA there were a lot of put downs towards this forum, as I understand it this was a breakaway forum after the old BBC606 shut down, the main ridicule, amongst others, was about how few members you had and couldn't get any more, but it's better to have a few with sensibility and humour rather than a lot with very little of both. If I remember rightly, wasn't someone advertising not606 on JA in the early days? Don't get me wrong, there are some on JA who put out good sensible and humorous comments etc, they're known as the cheeries. JA now seems to be split between the cheeries and the drearies, which I'm sure most on here would've heard about at some stage. You have a couple of sensible posters on here that post / comment on both forums, but not abusers. A lot of JA606'ers you wouldn't want on your forum, unless they completely changed their attitude and approach, and to be honest, if they did come over the likes of Chippy, Olof, Eire, Shako etc would have a field day, even the wallies would probably be siding with you on that one. Despite the early ridicule of this forum by some JA606'ers, I think this forum is way ahead in leaps and bounds........
I'm not that much of a youth Chippy, but while I'm still waking up with morning glories I'll consider myself in the younger, but not young bracket....
Interesting. Thanks for that, LL. As a matter of interest, how many use JA compared to here? Anyone got a ball park on that one?
I used to go on JA606 in the early days, but they were very discriminating, they kept banning me and deleting my posts, all because I have tourettes....... set'o' ****ing whinging bastards
Sorry to hear about your Tourettes Olof, I hope you're managing to cope with and control it as best you can; TBH, I wouldn't have picked it on here cos your wording and sentences seem normal. I think it was just before GFH took over, a member signed up to JA606. From the way he was writing his sentences, spelling his words and not understanding some of what others wrote it was obvious he had some sort of impairment or disability, turned out he had some form of mental disability and an associated level of Dyslexia, and he had a private carer. This lad was severely abused, ridiculed and berated by many on JA at the time because of his disabilities. There Admin only jumped in after about 2 weeks, and only because of a complaint. Now, it was later said, about 12 months or so after that it was someone pretending to have a disability, whether that was the case or not I don't know, my point is, none of those abusing him, or those that weren't didn't know that at the beginning, if it was true, but the abusers just kept on ridiculing him.
Since I joined JA, a lot of, well actually all the females have left, there use to be about 4 or 5 from memory. Other members have left too. You get some that pop on once in a blue moon and some new names that also comment once in a blue moon as well. Taking a guess, combining both Cheeries and Drearies regulars, there'd be around 20 or so.
Either you have posted the best ironic reply in the history of Internet fora or you missed the point where the pickled paddy was taking the puss about Tourette's! Either way a great post that made me smile.
I wasn't to know chippy and had no reason to disbelieve him; in my field you have to look at it as it is when it comes to disabilities, problems and inflictions. Did you have a smile on your face you grumpy old bastard, I nicked that off Olof....
