This isn't really any fun without City fans on this forum but today they have changed their stadium name to the Etihad Stadium. Etihad in Arabic translates as 'United'. So next season Manchester City will be playing in the United Stadium. Not only do they want to be like us. They want to be us. ****ing small timers.
Their stadium is actually called "The City of Manchester Stadium" at the moment and still as I understand is owned by Manchester city council. The council have apparently given permission for the name change, so I was wondering how much of the reported £120 million fee will be going towards the benefit of the rate payers of Manchester ?
No. If you look on Etihad website or Etihad under wikipedia they state several time Etihad in Arabic translates to United.
Languages like Arabic don't have a direct translation to English, so their words often have several translations to similar words. Unity and United are both considered translations.
Mugs haha with all there money behind them and they go and do a thing like this, just go's to show there a "plastic" club, with money grabbing football players who couldn't give a flying f**k about the club haha there totally plastic side i.e not the real deal with it comes to wining the English P.L !!! (FACT)
I am dead set against the selling of stadium naming rights. It is another example for how commercial football has become and it is against what football is all about.
I mean this is The English Premier league, do we really need stadiums to be named in arabic etc?... How about we just change every single Stadium into foreign language
What about stadia named after foreign airlines?? That reminds me, how's life at the Emirates Stadium.
thats English.. if you want it in foreign then translate it into foreign, or is Emirates a foreign word?
Agreed. Somehow we have ended up with a situation where the most powerful people in football clubs aren't interested in the game itself.
If the reports today are to be believed then the deal is said to be worth some £400 million ! I always thought that the likes of city and chelsea would get around the impending new financial restraints by just simply getting their owners associated companies to just cough up stupid millions in extra sponsorship thereby increasing their income to cover their spending orgy !!!! I wonder if our arab friends are also sending loads of dosh out to Africa to help with the latest humanitarian crisis ?
