I think my retort to cartoon head and my location being as Gaelige answer that But sword does make a very good point and it is infuriating to see the conflict generalised as a Catholic/Protestant conflict. Atheist myself but strongly nationalist. Now while I do not support all of the means of the IRA over the troubles I am not going to be ashamed in declaring my appreciation to them for the fact they took on a cause and didn't let it go finally winning the nationalist community equality and civil rights they have never experienced. A united Ireland was never going to happen but at least they forced the British establishment to take a good hard look at the rights abuses and the inherent and indoctrinated inequality that existed in the north. Try explaining to the people of the north in the sixties that by now the Nationalists wold be sharing power, there would be equal job rights and there would be 3 nationalist Lord Mayers of Belfast by this year and you would have been sectioned under the mental health act. That is measure of how far we have come.
no.. we use peg guns according to the scotch this but too many pricks cant see the wood from the trees
I must admit im somewhat ignorant on the subject im afraid, but to see some of the ****e people do in the name of religion is truly one of the most terrifying things on the world. Im not religious but i think organised religion can be a good thing, it can bring people together to help and support one another in all walks of life thats a positive and groovy idea, but it never seems to be used that way, it seems to be used a pass to start some **** with another religous group based on what they believe, and im not down with that. I could not care less who you prayed too, if youre a good mate and up for a pint and a laugh then **** everything else!
Theo you are bang on the money in one way but what this thread is explaining is religion has nothing to do with northern ireland
Well I'm not Irish nationalisist & do not suport their cause in any way but I do agree that NI was gerrymandered for years. I support equality but not republicanism, seen far too much ****e for that.
I really don't care what religion people are, however, anyone who blows innocent people up is a murderer, whatever their religion.
