Jon Stead has scored a few this season. Let's make a thread every time he does and write to the club in the hope that we bring him back.

I'll not post if that keeps you happy. I didn't see you slag off all the BORINI threads <bubbly>

You weren't reading properly then. As soon as we were quoted 14m I wanted us to pull out and move on.

I stated as much back then.

We need to be looking ahead not back. We got Defoe for Altidore. That's hardly a bum deal.

He's scored twice as many goals as Altidore did for us.

It was against Denmark and a canny goal, but Bentner got a tap in to equalise.

Altidore now provider by laying on a pass for the Yanks to go 2-1 up. Just thought would share.

Bentnder again 2-2, loads of goals from our failures.

It was a canny goal, and from a very tight angle. You can find a link on the Toronto FC page.

I thought Bendtner did well for us. Just strayed a bit too much for my liking. Wouldn't call him a failure though

Just used it in its widest sense as he couldn't score for us but does it regularly for Denmark.

The only problem I could see with Bendtner was that he wasn't a Bent type striker - and that's what we were all looking for at that time.

He looked worse than he was because he regularly made runs that our midfield couldn't see.
Must have thought he was still at Arsenal ?!?

Watched the Denmark v USA game mainly to see if Brooks was playing at CB for Yanks as I fancy him as a long term signing. He did well enough and gave a good strong performance but just realised he is left footed. Congerton has Bundeslige connections add that to our Yank owner. Well worth an effort to sign him before a big German club does.

He liked to drift into the channels didn't he. I think he was signed with the purpose of being a target man which he is not imo.

Same could be said for Altidore really, Funky. If he'd been allowed to drift off left as he does regularly for USA, he might be better thought of here than he is. But Poyet wanted a lone man up front, and it just wasn't Jozy's game. The contrast between Altidore for USA v Denmark/Nigeria etc. and Altidore for Sunderland v Hull City/Villa etc. is striking.

Too right, would have been a canny signing.
