This was going know where until this peace process was brokered..And much as I hate the fact that murdering scum bags walked free, it has proved to be the correct course of action in my opinion..

Well surely the fact that I referred to them as murdering scumbags should tell you that I do have a problem with them getting let off with this. However, the fact that many lives have been saved because of it proves to me that it was the correct course of action for the greater good...

I'm sure that you have saw things that I haven't which will make you see things from a biased prospective...I can step back and look at the bigger picture and believe that the fact that the bombings, shootings and murders have all but stopped has been worth the agreements that were made regardless how dirty some of these deals were..

So are you saying that you would prefer to go back to the way it was with shopping centres getting bombed and random shootings etc?

Serious question... If tomorrow you could kill one innocent man to save 1000 others... Would you?

If pardoning Jihadi John (who would repent and go about life like the rest of us) would stop conflict in North Africa, the Middle East and terrorist attacks in the western world... Would you?

Obviously two very hypothetical questions. Just curious to know what people would do in those situations.

Personally, I'd far sooner forgive a guilty man than kill an innocent man.

Having said that I'd probably, hypothetically, answer yes to both.

Like White I wasn't there but I consider the protection of innocents more important than punishing the guilty. In an ideal world it wouldn't be a choice but I guess it was back then.

That said I'm not all that clued up on all of this so my opinion comes from an idealist, perhaps naive and definitely ignorant place. I wouldn't condemn anyone who has reason to disagree with me.

I really enjoy having discussions with comm because we nearly always see things from different perspectives and argue our points passionately...However, I have to leave this one now as I'm taking our lass and my daughter out to the Royalty Theatre to see a play called "The Thrill of Love", which is based on the story of Ruth Ellis, who for those that do not know was the last woman hanged by the state in Britain.
