Not normally a fan of Burley (as he's massively anti-Chelsea despite being an ex player for us) but yeah, you're right, he's pretty spot on here.
He has got a point. The pundits are a bunch of ****ers anyway. They slaughtered LVG from day one: and even until last weekend not even one gave united a chance against the RS. Now many are rowing back. But wait until LVG loses another match again. There will be a feeding frenzy.
I wouldn't take it personally, United are big news so of course you're going to get reactionary pieces. Just imagine where you could be placed had LVG caught on to this revolutionary idea of playing players in their best position weeks ago....
Yup. Everyone could see that United had a decent enough squad to do well, I even expected a title challenge. But LvG pissed about for ages with formations and positions. Saying that though, there is still a chance you could finish 2nd imo. City have looked ****e, (so have we to be fair, but I think we are probably too far ahead of you with too few games left for you to catch up). I expect Arsenal, City and United to all be fighting for runner up now tbh.
thats a load of bullshit. We all know that if it were another Brit managing United he would NEVER have got the amount of flak that LVG got. He never gets the benefit of the doubt. What Burley said about players also applies to managers. ****ing Maureen excepted...
What is bullshit? That you may challenge for 2nd, or that LvG pissed about with formations and positions? Because if you mean either.....then
the bullshit is that "United are big news so of course you're going to get reactionary pieces." the press is negative to most foreign managers. they get lambasted whenever anything goes wrong. Pellegrini and Mancini and other foreign managers get more flak than any Brit would ever get.
Again all you're doing is picking really high profile managers in really high profile jobs and expressing surprise the press, media etc. are interested if things go wrong. Fact is, Brits are generally not in the big jobs so you can't really compare. Though Moyes got loads of flak last year. More than any foreigner manager has had this year.
Rodgers got absolutely no flak for where Liverpool were in December. Rednapp got little or no flak for QPR. Last season plenty were complaining that Moyes wasnt getting the criticism he deserved. It was only around February that he finally got the criticism, up until then he'd had an easy ride from the press. Sherwood got an easy ride but Poch was getting slated at the start of this season. Anyone who's listened to these self-important pr@ts on Sunday Suppliment know they have a xenophobia towards most things foreign and plenty of double standards.
