Even if I did believe they were independent, they literally have no real power to do anything and almost always rely on what the police tell them.

I've just read the whole thread again and I never said that or anything close to it. As for "trained professionals" as I said at the time training can only get you so far, no one knows how they will react the first (or any) time they face up to someone with a gun, or even someone who they've been told has a gun.

I'm not usually against the Police using over zealous force on wee fannies, the sort who probably deserve it for the 100 things they never got caught for. Shooting some **** while hes surrendering is simply a **** up of massive proportions though.

Funny court room fact: Its legal for the Police to secretly record you and then use said recording as evidence against you in court. But if you secretly record a copper making a **** of himself, then you're not allowed to produce it as evidence against him in court. (Scots only as far as I know)
