Brendan Rodgers expects to have Martin Skrtel fit and available for the trip to Swansea City on Monday night, but insists the centre-back will be monitored ahead of the clash to ensure he is ready to return.
Skrtel was stretchered from the field after 10 minutes of play in Liverpool's goalless FA Cup quarter-final draw against Blackburn Rovers at Anfield on Sunday, following an aerial collision with opposition striker, Rudy Gestede.
After the game, Rodgers reported that the Slovakian was 'fine' before Skrtel himself took to Instagram to confirm his well-being - and at Melwood on Saturday, the boss offered an update on the situation.
"Martin had the injury where he had to come off against Blackburn, so all the procedures, in terms of his gradual integration into the group is fine, so he should be available," explained the Northern Irishman.
"But we'll monitor that again to make sure that everything is safe and secure with his wellness to play in the game, but he should be fine."
Rodgers also reported on the fitness of two full-backs, Jose Enrique and Jon Flanagan, after the latter spoke of his delight at having battled back from a knee injury which has denied him a single minute's playing time this season.
"Jose Enrique has been in and out of training, so we'll monitor him over the next couple of games," said Rodgers. "Great news - young Jon Flanagan is back and training with the group, which is great, but again we're just having to gradually introduce him into the training."
The manager's midfield options have been bolstered for the return to his former club on Monday after Steven Gerrard and Joe Allen both confirmed earlier this week that they were edging toward full fitness.
"We had Steven back training, which is great," confirmed Rodgers. "Joe Allen is back and fit and well, so the [injured players] are starting to return."

Groin, isn't it? Classic injury of over-doing it too quickly after coming back. Needed a rest right now anyway and not to be playing internationals, but I suspect he may well miss the Arsenal game as a groin is usually at least a fortnight.

Ah well, really don't know then. depends if it's a knock or a strain, the latter being the more serious usually.

Sturridge is apparently not that badly injured that he cannot play in 2 weeks time!

Sturridge out for a month. God damn, the fact we all knew this would keep happening yet we never signed a proper replacement in either the summer nor January is criminal.

Balo up top with Lallana and Couthino in behind for Arsenal.

Doesn't really matter. He has barely shown up, we aren't getting top 4, so Sterling playing up top will do.

Sturridge is made of glass, his injury record is appalling.

Done his thigh muscle again apparently, sounds like season over, given the length of time he was out with the last thigh injury
