Who knows ... And our transfers have been decent to be fair - the issue is that Rodgers personally wanted the 3 Soton lads. This is what cost us dearly this year.
Transfers at the top end need to be more than 'fair' though don't they. We went half a season before there were any real signs that the last lot of transfers were anywhere near good enough and it's still too soon to say. There's a balance to be struck on transfer targets which is where a DoF would come in I suppose. You wouldn't expect a manager to have players he didn't want come in but equally there needs to be another experienced voice in there, which is what City have in Begiristain, identifying the right players in the right positions and getting them in early doors, job done - Rodgers and Ayre have shown they can't do that.
That's because they weren't given any real chance until injuries forced the issue. It's no coincidence that once we finally decided to drop certain players, and include others, our performances picked up. Fact of the matter is - Rodgers's marquee signings were Lovren and Lallana, and for them to get into the first team, they would be replacing Sakho and Suarez. Awful business which has cost us dearly, and it actually sickens me.
