for N'ZogbiaBy Colin Young Last updated at 11:54 PM on 8th July 2011 Comments (0) Add to My Stories Share Steve Bruce is preparing an £8million bid for Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe. The Sunderland boss may even be ready to sacrifice record signing Asamoah Gyan as part of a deal that would cost Spurs £5m. Bruce has contacted Spurs about Defoe, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Peter Crouch - but he is wary of the club after wrangling over Darren Bent's move north two years ago. Out of favour: Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe Bruce also hopes to hijack Charles N'Zogbia's Wigan exit with a £10m package, although Aston Villa are favourites to sign the midfielder. Sunderland, who have spent £30m so far this summer on 10 new players, yesterday confirmed the free signing of Blackpool's David Vaughan. Darron Gibson is expected to join Manchester United duo John O'Shea and Wes Brown at the club this weekend. He will follow new signings Keiren Westwood, Seb Larsson, Craig Gardner, Ahmed Elmohamady, Rory Deacon, Connor Wickham and Ji Dong-Won.
My brother has just sent me this. 'Sky Sports News Sunderland bid 8m for N'Zogbia and 9m for Defoe.' Is this true?
Just looked on the web page, cant see anything, but It may have been on tv, and as I cant get that channel here, cant say, sure others will though.
They've just mentioned it on sky sports but it mentioned that the n'zogbia bid is being reported in the mirror and the Defoe bid in the mail. Just reporting on what the papers say
Never know who, if any of these paper stories to believe, few saying a move is close to Villa for Nzog. They'd probably happily pay the 65k a week or whatever it is he's meant to be after.
OK. So just paper talk passed on by Sky. So, total bullshit. Sorry to build up hopes and/or despair. I'll get back to my brother and give him a rollicking for not checking his sources. (He'd make a good reporter for the D***y M**l.
No worse than the choas Cest caused yesterday mate...We're all still waiting, i'm dubious, but it's who knows.
Agreed. Better player than Crouch IMO and they were quoting him at 10 million. Ok, he's been off form last season but on his day he's class a d certainly knows where the goal is. I'd love to see him holding the red and White shirt with a big grin on his face!
It also says that Liverpool and Villa are interested in the Zog so it sounds no more than an agent drumming up business.
How much is a goal worth? £9m for 18 goals this season and 18 goals next season would be £250k per goal .............. that sounds cheap to me!!
