No. No you wouldnt. Lucas is rubbish and at no point yesterday were Liverpool in the game. Maybe if Uniteds bus broke down on route and we didn't actually arrive at Anfield then, and only then might you have had a slight chance. As it was, we arrived, dominated Liverpool on their own patch and came away with most deserved victory you will ever see in your life. It was even more dominant than our 3-0 walk in the park at Old Trafford.
When sturridge scored we were very much in the game. You had a good first half and proceeded to run around like headless chickens against our 10 men. Half the reason you played well is because you dropped your £60million flop and mata decided to come out retirement and begin justifying his £38m price tag
Cup final winners photo 2015, it would have been awful to go this season and last without some sort of trophy
Our 60million quid flop whos out of form figures are better than most players in form? We bought him to be creative and because he is an assist machine. Hes got 9. Second only to Fabregas. Our 38million quod flop has 13 goals since he joined. Currently the top player of his kind over the past 4 years. You were never in the game. Not once. Yes you scored but it was undeserved and only masked just how bad you were. We took out foot off at 2-0 but could have easily won by 4.
Why are Falcao and Di Maria naked?? Is this a memento from before or after the gang bang and bukkake party??
Sorry Jimmy, think you saw a different game to me. Thought Sturridge never stopped running or making space. There were several occasions, even in that first half hour when we barely touched the ball, when he'd slipped the attentions of Jones and Smalling but he never found due to hasty, poor technique (Henderson or Sterling, mostly) or just not enough time on the ball, in the case of Coutinho. For all people are having a go at balottelli, at least he freed up room for Sturridge to exploit even more. And that's the point regarding Lallana - he didn't occupy the united defence much, if at all. Too many runs down blind alleys, dribbling towards the corners or the halfway line, but not really delivering anything. We should push Sterling up in Lallana's place for the rest of the season, or even markovich. Still not convinced Sterling's heart is in it any more, and I think we may well sell at the end of the season. He seems to be sulking at rwb, if you ask me. may as well put Johnson into rwb for the rest of the season, though **** knows what we'll do about lwb as Moreno just isn't cutting it at all, and the rest of the league has sussed him.
Get out of ****ing town. You were deserved winners, more so than your 3-0 at OT when the scoreline totally flattered you, that's for sure, and yes, you deserved to win by more than one goal yesterday. But for all your dominance in that first 45 minutes, how many shots did you have on target? the easiest chance in that first half fell to lallana, and had he scored it we would have (undeservedly) gone in at half time level. And however 'undeserved' Studge's goal was (great pass by Coutinho and a percentage finish, albeit that De Gea should have stopped) you were reduced to wllying the ball to Fellaini and trying to hit on break for most of the twenty five minutes after that. Admittedly, on the balance of play you should have been home and dry by time Studge scored, but even Neville was speculating on why you'd gone into defence and stopped attacking against ten men just before, ironically, mata got his superb second. So, not denying that you deserved to win (easily): far more than you did at OT. But don't re-write history that you weren't at times, after Sturridge scored, occasionally panicked in midfield and defence.
Fair point - I think the main issue is that Sturridge has too much ground to cover as the lone striker, and he's not Luis Suarez who will run all day long. We invited pressure by sitting too deep, and we have done over the past 2-3 games. Only this time, we were up against a team with quality in attack to exploit. I will back Sterling up - he was one of our better attackers this season, probably only just behind Coutinho. Apparently he's playing with a knock and it doesn't help him being shifted to wing back. Get him back up top, maybe alongside Sturridge and let them wreak havoc. Even though Sterling didn't score many, his movement and pressing caused a lot of issues and we were creating clear cut chances. Since Sturridge came back as a lone striker, we haven't much at all. Rodgers should definitely take stick for the defeat because he was tactically outclassed yet again - we have lost 85% of games when conceding first - we hear him talk about character all the time but there actually is very little
Spot on As dominant as they were (in the first half) there are areas they are still not so hot. The jury is out on whether they can maintain that sort of form. They also tend to drop off in performance after 60 minutes. Their defence is still vulnerable. Although they were good on Sunday they were far from perfect.
yes indeed. I'd play Stuge, coutinho and sterling as front three, sitting on the midfield four. Point is though, they must recognise, as in last season with suarez, that they are the first line of defence, and their first job is to harass and harry the opposition when they have the ball. I'd use lallana as a sub for Coutinho, primarily, when he usually tires.
Suarez was a leader, and he would lead the press but also organise those around him as to where and when to press.
