Hull's former Liverpool flop Tom Ince 'as good as Real Madrid star James Rodriguez'
HULL midfielder Tom Ince is as good as James Rodriguez, according to his dad Paul.

Tom Ince is on loan at Derby
The former Liverpool man was a free agent in the summer after leaving Blackpool and held talks with Inter Milan and Monaco.

But the 23-year-old had to settle for a move to KC Stadium after interest from the Premier League's big clubs failed to materialise.

Ince has struggled to make much of an impression with the Tigers and has found himself loaned out to Nottingham Forest and Derby County this term.

But he could have been playing in the quarter-finals of the Champions League with Monaco, were it not for the meddling influence of his father, according to Tony Cascarino in The Times.

Cascarino claims that Ince was offered a very competitive deal by the Principality club, only for his father to insist his son was as good as Rodriguez - who was sold to Real Madrid for £60million - and should be paid a similar amount.

He was offered a great deal by Monaco but Paul Ince told the club he was as good as James Rodríguez and wanted a similar deal.

    Tony Cascarino

Cascarino said: "The Derby County winger needs to grow up and make his own decisions. His dad has too much influence.

"He was offered a great deal by Monaco but Paul Ince told the club he was as good as James Rodríguez and wanted a similar deal. It's unrealistic."

Last week Ince declined an opportunity to play for England's Under 21s - a decision that took Young Lions boss Gareth Southgate by surprise.

Southgate said: “I have had discussions with Tom and his dad Paul over the last week or so and he has decided he does not want to be considered for the Under-21s.

“I have to say I was surprised. He has obviously been a regular for us all the way through the campaign, but he feels at this moment in time he has got some priorities at club level. There is some uncertainty about where he is going to be at club level next season.”
    Meddling parents !!!!!!!

Ince Snr is the reason that this lad will never crack it at the top level. He's got the ability, but his Dad will never allow the lad to get the discipline in his game that he really needs, as he spends all day blowing smoke up his arse and engineering his next move.

I think we need to sell and pronto, having someone like that around isnt good for team spirit. Anywhere around £2m and he can do one.

I do genuinely think Tom could be as good as Hamez. He's not yet though, which makes his daddies assertion absurd.

It's a fair point, the way his dad interferes kind of makes you think he's 17 or something.

I'm not a parent, but surely there is a point where you have to let go of your child and let them be there own person and make there own decisions?

He looks more like a good Championship player at the moment so whether he actually does has have the ability for Premier League football at the age of 23 is a bit in doubt. Going by Cascarinos comments the lad needs to go his own way in life, or if his dad is his agent then sever the link.

If he'd have spent the last 2 years working on his game as opposed to flitting off somewhere else as soon as a manager challenged him, he'd have probably made it imo. As it is he's probably too far gone now.

Feel a bit sorry for Tom in all this. Imagine having your dad come out and say this while you're on loan at derby.
