Impossible to say. We have no idea how a player will do in one league to the next.

Half of those at Real or Barca could flop massively over here just as easily as they could take to it with ease.

Think of all the players who have player in both leagues. Some are great in both, some better in one or the other.

Go on then UIR, who would you choose Di Maria, Januzaj, Young, Valencia, who instead of Neymar?

Di Maria. Because he is experienced in passing to Ronaldo. Neymar is absolute ****e.

Though thats based on ability and not current form.

Di Maria's passing is terrible though; his worst asset. That's why Real sold him and even Long Ball Louis said his passing was weak

Thats because of the kind of player he is. You get an unpredictability with him. He can easily misplace an easy pass one minute and then play the pass of the game the next.

Yesterday for example. Came on, wasnt great, has the vision and ability to pick Mata out. Nobody else in this league sees that pass and then makes it (successfully). Same v Arsenal, inch perfect assist.

Thats what he does. He makes goals, regardless of his form he is one of the most creative players in football.

Jose is a big too. He would swap any of your players to have Di Maria.

He's the only player that can pass to a man completely unmarked and in 5 yards of space.... and instead of just passing it to him for an easy finish, decided to chip the ball nice and high forcing Mata into an acrobatic shot <whistle>

What about the simple pass to Rooney for a tap in in the box that he managed to **** up <whistle>
I don't suppose anyone else in the league would be able to make that one either.... Oh apart from the Hull LB that played it for them to score v Chelsea later in the same day <ok>

Di Maria and Young ahead of Suarez...

That's just on paper. They aren't going to play in a league. On paper, a Real/Barca XI is better than a Prem XI. At least for me it is anyway.

  11. There's far too much "owning" on this site for my liking.

I must admit, I've been disappointed with Di Maria. He started well but has definitely tailed off from a performance perspective as the season has progressed. To give him some credit though, there's no doubt that he's an effective player in that even when he's playing poorly he creates chances for his team mates. The goals have dried up (only 3 in the league all season and none for a long time) but he has 10 assists (which surprised me when I saw the stat), the second highest in the league. To put that in context, there was a thread on this board recently about how Coutinho is now one of the best players in the league and a candidate for player of the season. He's scored 4 goals and made 5 assists. I appreciate that every Liverpool player is elevated to world class status if they put in a half decent performance but the point still stands! Di Maria's problem will always be the transfer fee. Unless he's putting in match winning performances every week, he will always be criticised because he was bought for £60million. Bale is having the same problem at Real. He's actually playing very well but he's not Ronaldo and for £80million the Real fans expected another Ronaldo.

Lol @ the thought of di Maria being the only player capable of playing a killer pass! <laugh>

He's not fit to lace Ozils boots in the passing department!

Players in form could make it yes. Out of form they all go for the simple pass and fail to make the assist.

Di Maria out of form still tries it, still pulls it off and hes well out of form.

    Ozil is shocking btw.

Thats the difference between world class and the rest. A bad day for Di Maria still includes a couple great chances created still.

We paid big money because he delivers consistently. He has done so here. The overall performances havent been brilliant but he pops up with the goods more than most.

Infact a fabregas who had his best personal season ever (ended late December) is the only one above him. In a league with Sanchez, Ozil, Hazard, Coutinho, Silva etc you cannot argue with the figures. Most of the above are in form too yet still produce worse numbers than an out of form Di Maria.

Yes exactly. Nobody knew Di Maria would be out of form but still produce numbers almost everyone in the league is envious of.

A couple of games ago I did an ozil analysis, 33 goals or assists in 57 games at Arsenal. Identical stats to David Silvas previous 57 games for City. Ozil got 7 goals and 15 assists in his first season in the country (and helped us win our first trophy in a decade). He has more assists than any player in 2015 since returning from his early season injury. He's been voted amongst the top 3 arsenal players in basically every game he has played this year on our boards top 3 players thread.

Quality player who had a solid first year and is arguably Arsenals best player over the last couple of months...

The only people who still don't rate Ozil at Arsenal are people who don't watch him or ******s unable to understand football ;)

    Worse numbers?

    Sanchez 13 goals 7 assists
    Ozil 3 goals 5 assists
    Hazard 11 goals 6 assists
    Coutinho 4 goals 4 assists
    Silva 11 goals 3 assists
Di Maria 3 goals 9 assists

So surely the majority of numbers show that they aren't actually worse, or....? Sure, Coutinho is behind as is Ozil but he's played a lot less (i think).

For me there are more to a player than goals or assists anyway, which is why i think a lot of people are recognising Coutinho, he's excellent. But to suggest "worse numbers" than Di Maria is quite bizarre.

As for the form, you pay 60 odd million pounds for someone you expect some consistency, surely?

Di Marias job os to assist goals. We paid big money for that attribute. We didnt pay for his tricks and skill. They are a bonus that we get to enjoy (or not) at times. What matters most is what he produces.

Hes done decent enough. Ignoring the price (di maria didnt choose how much he cost) his numbers are impressive for a new comer to the league. Sanchez has slighly better numbers but hes covered the fact Arsenal have no real striker (giroid is so hit and miss).

Di Maria will always lag behind in the goals collumn. Hes a rubbish goal scorer. He will always lead the way in assists though.
