Richard III: Long queues to view coffin

The last Plantagenet king's remains arrived on Sunday after a cortege took his coffin through Leicestershire. About 2,000 people are in the queue with waiting estimated at four hours. His skeleton was found under a car park in 2012. The reburial ceremony, led by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, will be held on Thursday. Richard, the last English king to die in battle, was killed at Bosworth Field in 1485, at the end of the Wars of the Roses.

Here is a very unique idea of the chance to add your name to our take on a Book Of Condolence - your name in Richard III's Book Of Loyal Supporters! This leather book will have a special place in history, forever tied with the discovery of the last Yorkist King.

For a minimum donation of £2.00 you may have your name added in this delightful book. Your name will be hand written by professional Calligraphists on high quality parchment and the book will be Illuminated by a local artist. Names will be listed in alphabetical order to enable people to find their names easily.

Once completed, the book will be on display in York. It will also be available to view online. There is a limited amount of space for names, so order now to cement your name in history - forever associated with King Richard III.

Imagine lining the streets to throw flowers onto a box with a couple of bones in it? Buncha spazzies.

I wonder if, in 500 years or so, they'll find the skeleton of notorious child killer Fred West and give him a proper reburial with thousands of halfwits lining the streets?

Welcome to the website of the Richard III Society. We have been working since 1924 to secure a more balanced assessment of the king and to support research into his life and times. The recent Greyfriars excavation has raised the king's profile and provided us with new opportunities to make the case for 'Good King Richard'.

There will be a get together for Society members at the Holiday Inn, St Nicholas' Circle, for an informal buffet lunch/early supper. In the evening there will be a special service for members at Leicester Cathedral. The service will be based on the Anglian liturgy of Evensong with invited representatives of the Roman Catholic faith.

Its exactly what he would have wanted, some sausage rolls and a cuppa at a Holiday Inn.

Nothing like a sense of belonging and history to bring people together.

These people were out mingling with their fellow city dwellers, meanwhile, Russ was inside, smoking weed arguing with ****s on the internet and watching the Rangers game<doh>

Merseyside Police told the community on Monday to "stop grieving, it's only a chicken".

I agree - it's nice to get a feel for a real sense of history or nature or whetever rather than sitting about doing sweet FA of a weekend. The real plus is that most of the people seem fairly elderly so the queues at the supermarket checkout will have been smaller and shoppers won't have had to wait hours behind some doddery old bugger who insists on using 33,000 coupons on one basket of shopping.
