Actually one I would definitely recommend is Jameson 15yr. Bit pricey at £50 but i have yet to taste better. Cant wait until xmas for my yearly excuse to buy some. But at the mo this thread is really tempting me to start sipping the rest of the 12yr bottle I have.

Good stuff, not just me then. Talking of suitable mixers, love Zubrowka Bison Grass Vodka (Polish) with apple juice. Could have been designed to go together. Thoroughly recommend if you have never tried.

Jameson is good not doubt about that. The Jura though, I had heard it is really peaty. I love peaty whisky, Laphraoig is my absolute favourite so I'm interested in trying that one.

Not a big Vodka fan myself. Theres a strange sweet after taste that doesnt agree with me. Got a bottle of Grey Goose as a gift but its going to waste at the moment.

Provided you dont drink it as your main drink for the night then yes. The £33 quid i paid for it makes it a bit expensive (although tesco online have it for b**tarding £24 at the mo. Have a 12yr old Chivas Regal for general use.

Well if you like peated whiskeys Connemara peated is a must for you to try. If you ever make your way over to Belfast there is a bar that is a must called The Duke of York, its a whiskey bar with a whiskey shot menu. Heaven.

Do it. Just a little sip! Top marks for a £50 bottle.

Off to the highlands this summer so will be trying a few distilleries.

Grey Goose. See I think that stuff is really overrated and for me isn't worth the price. Zubrowka is a very original flavour, infused with a grassy herbal flavour (there is a stalk of bison grass inside each bottle) and it is a sort of yellowish colour. Doesn't taste at all like most vodka's. But all vodka's taste different although admittedly I didn't always think so. Guess I just developed the taste to appreciate them fully.

Much prefer the cheaper option of fosters and carling. And if i'm feeling good i'll spend a little more on some guinness.

Haha ... I know that feeling. I started drinking with whisky when I was about 14, couldn't stand lager or any sort of pint at that age so just drank neat whisky. Got virtual alcohol poisoning when i was about 17 and couldn't touch the stuff for about ten years after that. But well and truly back into it again now. ;)

Fair play. To be fair I'll drink just about anything with alcohol in it. Staying within recommended responsible limits obviously
