Yeah so anyway. We have the best form in the league and that's put us within 1 point of 2nd. We're also on course for another FA Cup final, so I'm gonna do a fluffy dance to celebrate my lowER expectations:

Go for it. Fine with me. As are posts from those who aren't so happy. If only you and others could be equally as accepting of those sorts of posts too.

Perhaps if you didn't use patronising terms like 'fluffies' then people would be more accepting <ok>

I'm not sure that being pleased when your team wins is having a low expectations - you could argue that if someone expects a team to win every single game then they haven't got high expectations, but unrealistic expectations, and are going to to be disappointed with their team - leading to bad feeling.

While another person, who understands that regardless of how good a team is, they are going to be affected by external factors and lose occasionally, may be seen as having more realistic expectations than lower expectations...

Don't use whiners and whingers then.

Anyway, more accepting of what exactly? Posters with anything negative to say have been pilloried on here for as long as I can remember

In my experience of supporting Arsenal the one thing I've never had is high expectations.I've always accepted the few seasons of success followed by longer periods of abject failure.I'm a lot luckier than fans of the majority of other clubs though.I may have a different view because I didn't start supporting them during a successful period

It's funny you say that, as I've always been a pessimist, even during the invincibles season I felt that there was many games we didn't play that well, and were lucky to draw/win. Wenger's 1st two seasons were really enjoyable though, considering expectations were really low...

    Irrelevant.

The opinion you are forming is only being formed because of the expectations you have set in your cerebrum. Once you have your base levels of expectation set up you can then look at '"form tables" and decide if they're something that pleases you or not.

You need to appreciate that everyone has their own unique levels of expectation and that what pleases you isn't necessarily also going to be something that pleases other people. And those other people have just as much right to post here as you do, without being whinged at.

'Kin Hell, did your Missus burn the roast potatoes today or something ? <laugh>

All I did was post the form guide that says that we are the league's top form side and said that was a good thing, especially at this point in the season.

You must be one miserable ****er if you can't see that being a good thing.

Well that's because your point was pointless to the post that I had initially made.

But I think that's because it doesn't sound like you have a clue what my point is

You can believe what you want. But you were the one making assumptions about expectations <ok>

Well we won, did good in the first and ran out of steam in the second. Hopefully this won't happen again as we don't have Champs league footy now. We can now go full stream ahead in the league and FA cup. Keep this up and we will get to 2nd <ok>

We've played a lot of games in March, so it's not surprising that we've tired in the 2nd half of games. The good thing is though that we haven't capitulated along with this fatigue, where in the past we may well have done. So I think that bodes well for the team and the mentality we have that we are able to grind out results when needed.

Sort of. But it also leads to an immense feeling of frustration. Because we have bouts of outstanding form every year and it ultimately still gets us nowhere near either of the big two trophies. We have the same failings every year. I'd see the point in praising something small and impressive if it led to something large and impressive... but in the last 10 years it never has. So ultimately, while I can watch Arsenal currently and get excited about all the games that we're winning... there's also a part of me that feels sorry for myself that entirely pointless things like "top of the good form table" are all I have to live for as an Arsenal supporter anymore. So when I read people praising that sort of s**t it brings out that angrier side of me. Until I can see the pointless positives leading towards a worthy positive, I can't get that excited by the pointless positives.

My personal view is that it's not a pointless positive. It's a very tangible position that means we're on course to finish in the top 4, push for 2nd and carry that form into the FA cup to hopefully win that trophy. Whilst that might not be the summit of what we expect as Arsenal fans, it's still not to be sniffed at, especially when you consider that the alternative (not having our good form) would see us dropping out of the top 4 and being replaced by either Liverpool, Utd or Spurs.

It's all very well conceptualising how things should be, but in my book you have to look at the reality of the situation and recognise the positives, which do have tangible effect on the outcome of the season. I don't see the value in getting angry/frustrated with Arsenal just because we're not going to win the league and I don't see the value in getting angry/frustrated with fans who point out the positive aspects to our season. Things might not be exactly how we want them to be, but they could be a whole lot worse.
