Thought refereeing was ok yesterday, but was it just me that thought Barnes was very lucky not to get two yellows? Grabbed pelle by the collar in the first half (ref just diffused it, but he certainly raised his hands) and then clattered into clyne in the second for a definite yellow. Still, probably a better game thanks to the way the ref handled it
Im a little surprised by the stat that we only had 3 shots on target, as during the game it seemed to me that Heaton made more than one good save from our attacks ( assuming that 2 of the shots on target are for the goals, or maybe the og doesnt count as a Saints shot on target ? ). Only stats at the end of the day but maybe my memory is even worse than i think it is.
Totally agree, thats why I said that I wasn't going to say that and wait until he's played more games. At that point I may be wanting to crawl back under my shell!
Its not pretentious. Its funny. Well, its meant to be funny. Sorry I didn't put in all the appropriate smileysoops, I meant , no I definitely meant
Kelv playing reminded me of our promotion celebrations. An official was counting the players back in and said (in a worried voice), ' Kelvin is still out there.' On cue, SKD came through the tunnel wearing only a pair of shorts and a big grin. Great memory
For the referee, yesterdays game must have been a pleasure as there was little or no diving, no surrounding the ref, no ranting in his face, the alleged Burnley penalty the players didn't really bother appealing, the crowd didn't get on his back apart from when Long was smashed in the face in the penalty box, nothing really warranting a yellow card...etc He would have had to try very hard to cock much up in the game

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20150322-jose-fonte-post-southampton-burnley-2351365.aspx Jose Fonte talking about the match and Kelvin. Interestingly he said that Kelvin talks a lot and it is easy to be managed by him. I think some (including me) may have thought that the defence would need to protect SKD because he has been out of the game for a while, but we may have overlooked what he brings to the game.
I think both points are valid Fran. I think his communication will actually help, but our defence will have to be at their best 'stopping shots happening' across the next 8 games. I don't expect Vic will be benched again.
Accept that he pronounces Bertrand as "Bertram". Oh well, wouldn't be Merson if he was able to get the names right.
Keeps taking me to the App Store and trying to get me to download the William Hill app. I've given up and will gave to watch the recording of MOTD I made when I get home tonight
Let's not forget Super Kelv has 15 years or so experience on Fraser. I'm pretty confident he can see us through to the end. Especially if our back four, Morg &Vic remain injury free.
I'm just re-watching it at the moment on Season 2 I'd say season four was my favourite. The education, politics and Amsterdam experiment. Really thought provoking stuff
The second tackle on Clyne probably did deserve at least a talking to but the ref played a (very good) advantage and it was probably a good two minutes before the ball went dead. I would imagine it would be pretty hard for anyone to keep it in mind. Easy in the stands but tough on the pitch, as you'd be much more focused on what's happening from moment to moment. It's so much the norm that you notice it when a ref does remember the foul a minute or two later. Vin
I can't understand why the ref didn't go back and book Barnes. I mean, even if he forgot, I was giving him a gentle reminder when the ball eventually went out of play. All he had to do was listen
