By the way, cracking finish by Long (seeing as he gets a fair bit of stick for that).

Foster's just been ruled out for 6 months with ACL. Forster will probably follow. :(

It was a sitter, but he finished it the way he should have... unlike Pelle.

There speaks a loyal, true gentleman, certain other players should listen and learn.

    Thats a bit patronising?
If Forster had come for the ball as Toby had screamed at him to do so he would not have got injured.
He would have collected it no problems. But he didn't. He does what he always does he stays on his line.
He lacks confidence and courage and he is getting found out.
At Stamford Bridge he should have dominated his area and and caught the ball--he didn't Costa scored.
He is a GREAT shot stopper but the rest of his game is not up to the standard expected.
Kelvin came on today and I was thinking s--t we are in trouble
How wrong was I. He is not as good as Fraser but what a performance.
He caught crosses ,he made the saves and his ball distribution was the best I have seen from him in years.
Fraser needs to realise he is a huge presence who can dominate everyone but at the moment he dominates nothing
To me he appears to be a bit of a chicken?
KELVIN have a word in the ear of this young pretender and make him reach his full potential which could be truly awesome

The Chapel? Thought they were pretty horrid today, towards Pelle in particular.

I thought Pelle had a great game. It was like the cup match against Millwall, linked up well, had some good chances, and everyone was willing him to get that goal. Play like that and it will come soon but to be honest If he left until the 94th minute against man city to qualify for the champions league, then that would be fine with me.

    Wait... what?

It was a simple backpass. Forster had plenty of time to control the ball, and then clear it. He even had time to give it a little bit of a run-up.

He wasn't under any pressure. It was a routine play. He either slipped and his knee gave out, or his knee gave out causing him to slip, which was the only reason there was any contact between him and Vokes at all.

    It was just bad luck.

When I'm able to watch the game later, that'll be an interesting aspect of the game. I agree that Forster is an excellent shot stopper, but I must admit that his one real fault is a little glaring at times, in that he fails to come for a ball either early enough or at all. I can think of three occasions right off the top of my head where situations wouldn't have developed if he'd had come for the ball whilst it was being shielded by a defender for him. One of them, against Villa late last year, resulted in a goal.

Whilst I wasn't able to watch the game earlier, I did find out that Kelvin had taken over between the sticks on 14 minutes, and that did make some odd jitters pop up. But we know his weaknesses. Can't kick and is suspect at the near post. Apart from that he's pretty much OK. And apparently he had a good game today. Just waiting patiently to see it now..! <whistle>

    That's not what I saw.
Toby was beckoning him to come and get the ball and he stayed rooted to the spot.
Toby got closed down and had no option but to pass back which but Fraser under pressure and he got injured
Totally avoidable and Fraser's fault for the reasons set out in my earlier post

Alderweireld was motioning that he could come out and get it as the last touch was off a Burnley player. But Fraser was right to stay. The ball was dying so Fraser would have had to come way out, really for no reason.

Aldeweireld played a backpass. As soon as he played it, he immediately turned his back and started trotting upfield. He wouldn't have done that if the play was close.

Fraser trapped/played it out to his stronger right foot and also because Vokes was vaguely coming down his left. But at no point was he under any real pressure at all. He actually had time to steady himself and get a nice run up.

Vokes wasn't even coming at him hard, just trying to be a bit of a pest really or hoping for the off-chance Fraser pulled a Davis. The ball went right down the middle of the pitch, so that tells you how much time and space Fraser had. If he was under pressure he would have had to kick it out to the right.

Really... it was a completely routine play. I've seen it at least ten times. I just went back and looked again.

No cards at all today, but should Barnes have got one? I think the Ref allowed us to play on and had forgotten the challenge. Barnes was subbed before he could have a chance to remind the Ref of his oversight.

Might be wrong, but I think FLT was referring to when the keeper appeared to hit him with a forearm before catching the ball
