Both teams were crap IMHO. We can play better, no idea whether this was typical from Ipswich, but I thought both were pretty awful.
Unfortunately not mate, I'm at Brean Sands in Somerset at the moment on my way down to Devon for an aunt's 80th birthday bash...
Mate, get this, I'm in the arse end of internet connection in the world right now, but come final whistle I'm on my phone and seen the result and that and telling Mrs welly that we've won and all that and I've got some **** overhearing me and asking me how Bournemouth and Norwich have got on... Turns out he's a Budgie who's opening gambit is, ' I'm Norwich, you must hate me now...' It couldn't be, could it?
Typical. Probably our worse home performance of the season just when we needed to be solid and assured.
I do think that we missed having a creative mid-fielder available with both FF and Abdi injured. However if this is what a typical Ipswich performance is like, I will put up with a poor game from us from time to time.
I also meant to say that I was so pleased to see the round of applause on the 44th minute. #ForNicForPromotion
The pleasing thing from our point of view is that we never allowed you a single shot on goal throughout the whole game which is a pretty amazing stat. We had more possession and 3 shots on target. Our Watford hoodoo is over at long last and this result will give our boys a huge confidence boost as we go into the last 7 games. None of the top 6 will be sorted out until the final day. Good luck to you unless we meet you in the play offs!
I am sure that you are happier than we are tonight, but to be honest both teams were rubbish. If people had to watch that sort of display every week the grounds would be empty.
Well.... ****! Slav got it wrong. The boys played it wrong. D'Urso was as spineless and ill judged as ever. Twat. Unless you really know TLOTG then, well, hey ho. We got mugged. Bottom line is that I cannot remember a single shot on target... Thus no complaints on the result. And I guess they were due. NOT a disaster. A setback, yes, we move on. Feck it, beat Derby and it's all rosy again.
Our record at Derby since they moved to their current home doesn't exactly fill me with confidence - in 10 matches there, we've lost 7, drawn 1 in Oct 04 and won 2 in Aug 05 and Mar 12.
Annoying goal to give away - so needless - Watson and Anya could have done better. Somebody like Robbo would have just hacked the bloke down!
we understand were you are dave but i dont want to see scum in the playoffs and after yesterday that were i think wfc will end up
I'm so sorry it's all my fault ... this "glory supporter " has not seen a shot on target in his last two games ..Norwich and Ipswich . Was thinking about going to the Middlesbrough game , with a mate who has been a life long supporter of the Boro , but on second thoughts will save my pennies for an "easier" game . Just too much tension / stress for my ol'ticker to take . Hats off to all those seasoned regulars who turn up week in week out , especially in a relegation season in half empty stadiums ...it's an expensive commitment for those of us where money is tight . Jokanovic seems to be a good coach , just wish he would allow his players to run further with the ball and put in crosses from closer to the corner post . Motta looks a strong player , but on yesterdays showing he struggled to put in a decent cross . Would like to see wingers play against the stronger sides . On a side note , if Watford fail to secure an automatic place , would like to see Bournemouth have a go in the Premier . A small club which has exceeded all expectations . ....and finally , I understand Ipswich and Norwich could have sold many more tickets ..it is a shame to see empty seats on the big games and a loss of revenue for the club . Noted plently of spare seats in the SEJ stand .
I hate to be a killjoy, but I suggest we need to wake up and smell the coffee. I have read the usual excuses of SJ picked the wrong team/ tactics, the referee was poor, we played our worst game of the season, the fans didn't make enough noise, but it'll be all right if we win next week etc. etc. I am rapidly losing confidence (and interest) in this campaign. Every time we seemingly get going and to the top we turn in a performance of such tripe as yesterday's and it's always against a half-decent team, who know how to stop us playing. Yesterday was a classic, wrong team, wrong tactics - at this stage of the season - what???? Can you imagine a GT that played a home match with not one shot on target? In almost 60 years of following Watford, I have never experienced a promotion chasing season where we have such an abject record against our fellow challengers! Yes we have walloped lower teams by 3, 4, 5 and 7 (and I have enjoyed every moment) but............ In 8 games against the other top 6 teams, we have managed 2 points (out of 24) and scored 3 goals. If you extend that to the top 9, discounting Brentford (where we won against 10 men), the record reads a dismal played 11, won 0, drawn 4 - yes 4 points out of a possible 33 - scored 7 (6 in 3 games, 1 in 8!). Ipswich fans were seemingly surprised that they have done the double over us. I am not. Can you imagine what would happen if we did go manage to go up? Yes, but many will say that the Pozzos will supply us with better quality players, some of our players would adapt to the Premiership better than the Championship etc. But I hate to say it, with the current coaching setup, we could include Messi and Ronaldo in our team and still be relegated. But we still seem to think that we have a chance against Derby, Boro and Forest? I hope I am proved wrong and just a miserable old bugger. No-one would be more pleased than me - but I cannot see it at the moment. Sorry.
This is a reply to vic-rijrode, but without the cut and paste. What on earth do you want ? We are 2nd highest scorers in England, have the best form of any team since December, over any number of games, and we are predicted to be (using analysis based on shots, goal etc) the most likely team to gain promotion. We all have 'bad days at the office' and I for one think GT would definitely have done what slav did yesterday - try to win the game. Who would you rather be watching ? The stats you select are interesting. We played Norwich ipswich derby bournemouth before SJ got into his stride, had the better of boro over 90 minutes at the riverside. We lost at norwich and at home to bournemouth thanks to the ref, lost again to norwich thanks to the ref. Perhaps you'd rather be watching Derby, whose form over the last 10 games is W2, D4 L4. And as for what might happen next season, you clearly weren't at the Etihad in Jan 2014, where. for 60 minutes we outclassed Man City. Our style will do well in the prem, given a few additions. I was very disappointed with yesterday's game, and the result was as freakish as - well - how about the one at Portman road. It happens. But to lose interest and confidence is an irrational kneejerk reaction, IMHO. What you forget is that SJ has cunningly avoided winning Mgr of Month - he'll collect it in April - just watch. Cheer up, before you get me depressed too.
