Just got in from the game. Great result. Gutted for Fraser Super Kelvin Davis I thought Pelle did much better today with his hold up play; he just needs a goal to settle him now. Bertrand excellent Toby excellent Mane looking good Morgan great Vic a beast Happy days apart from Fraser.
You walked straight in front of me when I was sitting in the car waiting for the barriers to raise after the game.
It's not up yet TSS, but they have the very brief highlights.... http://livefootballvideo.com/fullmatch
I should have revved the car - that would have made you jump and maybe fall over for real. Shame I didn't think of it at the time.
He is the master of early success; let's see if it lasts after the second season as that is when he falters.
Just to remind everyone what a fantastic season we're having: Last year we finished in 8th position with 56 points and a goal difference of +8. This year (with 8 games to go) we have 53 points and a goal difference of +21. I think with all the hype last year and our 5 "best" players leaving we may have missed the fact that we're ****loads better this year!
The ref was good today..... There is a but. Can someone tell me how the challenge, or should I say "off the ball face palm" on Long in the second half, not be a penalty? It was unbelievable. He was just cleaned out.
I guess over the next few weeks we'll find out whether it's the back 4 or the goalkeeper that makes our defence the best. Judging by today - a bit of both! Well done SKD!
And I won't be doing it again anytime soon because they were ****ing annoying - moaning at every little thing.
SKD talking about today...said it was emotional to be given a round of applause by the team when he walked into the dressing room.
Are you talking about when Long went down and rolled around for a bit? He was looking up at the ball, kind of dancing around and off balance because it was up and a little behind him. Shackell was moving towards the ball as well, but he had the advantage of moving forwards toward it. As Shackell moved towards the ball, Long kind of bumbled into the same space. Probably what would normally happen is that they would claim the same territory, and end up fight underneath for the header trying to establish space by leaning against each other or whatnot. But Long never saw Shackell and was off-balance, and Shackell only half-saw Long. So as they both moved towards the ball Shackell's shoulder went right into Long's head. Long probably wasn't acting, but at no point did Shackell stick his hand, arm, or elbow out either, nor did he jump into Long. Technically, they could have called a foul on Shackell. But for a penalty to result from something where there was no dangerous play, and no intent would have been way too harsh. So I thought the no-call was correct. If you were going to blow a penalty for that, no CB could play defense, ever.
