Reminded me of one our Championship games. Started off scrappy, but by the end of the game we were in complete control and you wonder why you were ever nervous.
That's all we can do...keep winning and hope others drop points. Shame as we were in control for most of the season...now we have to depend on others. Pity Leicester couldn't do us a favour...scoring 3 goals at WHL and yet no points.
Thought Steven Davis was back to his best today, fantastic performance from him and you know when things are going right for him when it takes a fingertip save to stop him scoring a looping header haha! His brother between the sticks was great too, so happy for Super Kelv that he got that clean sheet, I'm definitely very worried about losing Forster but it would be so brilliant if Kelv could have a lovely little swansong at the end of this season.
Great result against a spirited Burnley who were unlucky not to score in the first half. SKD did well when he came on. We will need our back 6 to play better then ever in the remaining 8 games to protect him as he is a big step down from Forster. I cringe whenever the ball is passed back to him. Thought Pelle had a good game in every aspect bar his finishing. Early season Pelle would have had at least 2 goals today. Bertrand proving again that he is currently Englands best left back. Credit to Koeman for changing things at half time. We looked much more solid with Big Vic on the pitch and still kept a threat with Mane, Long and Pelle on the field.
The opposition must be praying that Pelle doesn't get his mojo back just seeing the number of close shaves he has every match. Keep the faith Graziano ............. it's gonna come back when you least expect it.
Keep saying it. Palace are a really decent side. As usual, Toon are starting to look at holiday brochures.
Yep. Won't be able to keep my Cherries supporting Rambler friend quiet now. When I last looked at their run-in it seemed eminently doable. I'm also fascinated by how they are going to cope next season if they get promotion.
Amusing little stat. Today's win means that we now cannot get relegated. The lowest i think we can finish right now is 16th.
Very good performance in the second half. In the first half we were dodgy in the defence, our 4-4-2 formation with a midfield diamond (Davis and Tadić wide, Mane on top) left our defence a bit exposed. When Koeman established Wanyama - Scheiderlin partnership in the second half, we were much more solid, and our forward players also played with more freedom and intent. My best performers were Alderweireld (a different class to any CB in the league), Bertrand and Mane, who is a driving force in the attack. Pelle played well overall, I though, but I don't remember when was the last time I saw a player so devoid of confidence in front of the goal. SKD was great, he saved our skin three times in the first half. Forster who?
Kelvin Davies take a bow. Absolute legend for his first half performance. Steven Davis was quality when pushed further forward, and I think Bertrand is fast becoming my favourite player. Wanyama is a house. Yippee!!
Well they're top of the league because they're the best in the league - but it's not looking good for the 3 teams who came up last year. I hope this doesn't happen regularly but it seems you need to survive at least one season before you get enough TV cash to make a step up the premiership ladder.
Great result and a decent performance, so I'm happy. Great substitution at half time from the birthday boy, great performance from sir kelv, great to have 53 points.
This season is a bit of a rarity in that regard. Parity has become the norm at the bottom...you have to go back to '07-'08 to find a season where even two of the three newly-promoted clubs went straight back down.
Don't care that much about Bournemouth. Used to like them, but their fans were so obnoxious when we were in the same division.
Yes, it's been said many times before. I think we can rise above that sort of stuff can't we..? Personally, I'm not interested in their fans, it's the club that are doing well. The fans watch them doing it. We can separate the two.
Imagine the shock for him..probably had only just sat down and got the top off his flask and the blanket across his knees.
