Ajax played him wide right in a 4-2-3-1
We played him mostly wide left, occasionally flipped him out wide right to mix it up.

The other night Uruguay played him.....wait for it......wide left.

There's a reason he he gets double the number of assists than goals. And even when he scores......wait for it......he mostly starts from a wide position.

Who does he skin most? Fulbacks.

Just like all centreforwards do <doh>

Exactly. That's why the front 3 of Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez were so great.

Ummm, no he didn't. Ajax played a 4-4-2 formation before Suarez joined Liverpool. Suarez was generally paired upfront alongside El Hamdaoui during his Ajax career. Please get your facts right next time.

And he usually rotates with Cavani and Forlan in a 4-3-3 formation for Uruguay.

I'm not saying he's useless out wide or he can't be played out wide, I just think he's naturally a striker. So to say he's one of the top two wide players in the league is just ridiculous, especially considering the fact that he's only been here for half a season.

<erm> of course Ajax played 4-4-2.

The famous Ajax 4-4-2. Chalk on boots. Lots of crosses.

I follow most European leagues you clown, so don't contradict me if you haven't got enough evidence to back up your views.

Oh and why did you ignore the rest of my post?

That looks like a 4-3-3 formation to me. Plus that was in Europe so Ajax's formation may have varied. Even in a 4-3-3 you play with a striker and two inside forwards.

    Tis a rather compact 4-3-3.

It's OK Kamran, we all get owned at one time or another in a debate.

It happened to me once in the 80s. Can't say I enjoyed it much.

And LDLuke, no we don't. You've got more depth, far better wide options (other than Suarez), can change a match with subs, handle injuries to multiple strikers, have better strikers, have depth at the back, have a great left back, etc. etc. etc. And you didn't have Hodgson 'managing' you and deliberately trying to get you relegated.

You've got an uninspiring collection of centremids but the rest of the side, including subs, puts you well above us. For now at least. :)

    <laugh> you're talking ****. I clearly proved you wrong.

I've never lost a debate or an argument. And I don't think I will lose one any time soon, especially to a Liverpool fan <laugh>

Congratulations. Put on your 'Ajax play 4-4-2' and 'Suarez is a centreforward' t-shirt and run a victory lap.

    Didn't you say they played a 4-2-3-1 formation? <laugh>

He is a natural centre forward who can do a job in wide positions so technically Kamran is right about that.

Oh god that's twice in one day I have agreed with a Gunnar <doh>

No need for that. How are you supposed to know if a person is joking on a forum? Jokes are more about tone and body language than the words in a lot of cases.

    Of course I did.

"Ajax beat Kiev 2-1 to advance to the group stages of the Champions League. In a match that, in the end, brought both relief and confidence, Ajax’ common 4-2-3-1 had a tough time against Kiev’s defensive 4-4-2. "

Here's a post from an Ajax supporter before we bought him

"It would be horrible for me and for Ajax if Luis Suárez would leave, but he deserves a beautiful transfer to a big club if he wants to, after all his hard work for Ajax.

Ajax would be screwed and no longer be a topclub (#1 and #2), but a weak subtopper (#4-#7). Suárez is one of the best players in Eredivisie history. And he's irreplacable. Even if Ajax gets 30 million Euro, the big European stars won't go to the Eredivisie.

Suárez is a versatile attacker, great goalscorer and a real king of the assist. He has a horrible left leg, an awesome right leg and is great at taking free kicks, penalties and corners. He can head in some goals if he stands free without any defender, he's too small and physically weak to be a good head-goalscorer.

Suárez is actually NOT a striker. He can play as a second striker, that does not make him a true central striker. He's a winger."

I have no idea where the idea he's a centreforward comes from. He played wide for Ajax, played wide last week for uruguay, played wide for liverpool.

If he was an Alan Shearer clone when he was 15 I apologise.
