Harristown runs in the 4.15 at Fontwell. Hes very well at home and seems to be on very good form.... but he has been before his last 2 runs as well which were very disspointing and un explainable so hoping he reagains his spark. Been lucky enough to get Schofield to ride him. Hopefully the better ground will help although unfortunately he lugging top weight again. Expecting Malibu Sun to make it a stiff test which is good as trip is on the sharpe side. He will be ridden handy by Schofield and probably press off the bend to run the finish out of the others. He is giving a whooping 36lbs to the bottom weight though... quite alot you could say!! Fingers crossed
Best of luck with him the don It must be frustrating him having to lump top weight in these type of events - is it worth trying to get him in a Class 1 over 2m4f or 2m6f? I know he was well beat in the Imperial Cup but he was still a young horse in those days, can't help thinking a step up in grade and trip, maybe running off somewhere around the 11 stone mark, might see him to better effect? Also, it will be markedly quicker ground tomorrow than he has experienced in a while - how ground dependent is he?
So stick - Bumper King - one of the biggest bumpers of the season at Newbury, what's going to win? Can't be having the Henderson horse Cultivator, I would never back Alflora offspring on goodish ground (and the dam ain't exactly throwing stars). Alan King has 2 entered but I can't got excited about The Unit, whose 3rd place finish at Kempton doesn't look too special in the context of this race. The other one, Criq Rock, could be anything and maybe worth an e/w dabble. The one I am interested in is Oliver Sherwood's McKenzie's Friend. This son of Flemensfirth is (as far as I can see) the first foal to race for dam Escrea, who was a multiple hurdle winner and won a Grade 2 novice chase for Paul Nolan. Sherwood has a 16% strike rate in bumpers over the last 5 seasons and I think this one could go really nicely. 12/1 on Bet 365 tonight, worth a fiver e/w of anyone's money
Hello all Short and Sweet, I've picked one from each of the C4 races: 215- Pepite Rose 215-The Last Sumari 235- Kilane (NAP) 250-Milansbar 310- Ikoruku Road 325- Stopped Out 345- Golden Doyen Really fancy Kilane in the mares and i also think Golden Doyen is very interesting as he is running here after falling early @ Chelts and the better ground will help!!! Good luck all
good luck with Harristown -i shall not burden you with my cash! I will however throw some hard earned at Restraint of Trade in the 2 25 Bangor -jennie candish has her horses in top order - this course winner will enjoy the ground and trip -- Harry Hunt 3 50 ST -loves the course , yard flying --a great name -what more do you want ?
I really like the look of CRIQ ROCK. King has some nice bumpers and although jockey bookings suggest he is the second string the pedigree says otherwise to me. Worth keeping an eye on the Bailey horse as the booking of McCoy looks interesting as does his ride for Oliver in the 2:35 on Theregoesthetruth!
Jockey bookings could be a smokescreen on the King runners stick - agree the French bred looks the more likely of his 2
LONG LUNCH 3:35 Bangor 7/1 is yet to run a bad race and the step up to 3 miles looks certain to suit. Solid each way bet. Not had good news from the yard this week as our mare has picked up a knock. She will not race again this season for certain and to be honest I would not be surprised if we do not see her on the track for some time. She needs time and patience and as she is a syndicate horse I doubt she will be afforded that luxury in her current position.
Mr Kit Kat fellas..Williams loves this lad and hopefully Paul want be too easy. Tough bumper to call but that's who I would side with although I do appreciate the bumper kings word too. #legendthe606forum
Very good points oddy and spot on. I have said I don't want him carrying top weight again and stressed the point..... I would love to see him at ascot, Kempton or Newbury over 2m 6f in a big Saturday class 1/2 race carrying 11/ 10 5 stone ish less Charlie D's 5lb claim on good to soft / soft ground. As you say they would go a clip and he was handy in the imperial and travelled fine until the pace quickened and he was blocked over too sharp a trip. He's sloshed through at Huntington which had some at the yard thinking he was a heavy ground horse but I ( and stick) have told them numerous times that he's not. I think the ground should suit him well so long as it's not super fast (have a look at his first race on good/soft smashing abracadabra sivola 8 lengths more or less on the bridle). I'm pretty sure he stays.... Tomorrows trip will be too sharp and if back to form I can see him getting another 2nd place or possibly 3rd and another 2lbss for our trouble! Thanks!! That's the issue with not being the majority owner, you don't have control.... One of the frustrations but I love him to bits and wouldn't swap him for anything.
How well do you and stick know the other syndicate members? Is it largely anonymous or are there regular meetings? If they know anything about horses and the sport I would think such sound reasoning would help persuade them? Or are they a bunch of chavs and bankers?
310 Newbury. Handy Andy. Likes Newbury and has had a little break, so hopefully will run well. 10s with Bet365
Dusky Legend 10/1 Imperial Circus 9/1 E/W Singles and double. Both should enjoy the ground and Dusky Legend ran a fine 2nd last time on soft ground that suited the winner. The pair were miles clear.Crucially, Dusky Legend has shaped like a mare that stays and the combination of longer trip and better ground will hopefully count in our favour. Imperial Circus is a good stayer and has been kept fresh since a below par Cross Country run at Cheltenham in the winter. This is more his ground and he returns with the Hobbs team in real good form.
Morning all!! Good luck with Harristown Don!! Lucky 63 for some interest... 2:00 New - CARRIGMORNA KING 14/1 2:15 Kel - CLOUDY TOO 6/1 2:35 New - KILRONAN HIGH 16/1 2:50 Kel - SAMSTOWN 14/1 3:10 New - NO DUFFER 5/1 3:25 Kel - GALLERY EXHIBITION 7/2 Good luck all!!
It's not a syndicate, there are 3 of us and I know them well. They love their horses and have interests in quite a few and love the game. Both leave it fully to the trainer and don't have any input and would never go against what the yard recommend. In fairness I get a say and put my views forward but it's not the casting vote
Best of luck with Harristown "The Don & Crew" Any inside info on Kalane in the Mares Final? She is Micky Fitz charity bet. AP's is Spartan Angel in the same race, from the barn of the Forums FAV trainer??? off bottom weight, with his fine record in the race, Barry Geraghty says " She's been given time to strengthen & the nicer ground should suit her much better" Spartan Angel looks to have been laid out for this? Good Luck
