1) Not sure, you'd have to ask the individual users. I suspect some would be able to find the money, others wouldn't. 2) That's complicated, it would depend on how Hull City AFC left. If the lease stayed with the SMC it would be responsible for maintaining the stadium but without Hull City AFC's rent. If the Council and the SMC agreed to terminate the lease then they would struggle. Ideally the Allams and Hull City Council would sit down and sort out a mutually beneficial way forward. From the outside it looks quite straightforward, build an indoor pitch, extend the stadium and develop the area around the KC. The result might not be as spectacular as the Etihad be we would end up with something a lot better than we've got now. Sorry I cannot be clearer.
More likely to be a bunch of sad b'stards who have nothing better to do on a sunday. A good target mind if the fire brigaide want some target practice.
I don't assume the lease says what I want. Councillor Brady says it includes community use and he can't evict the groups. I presume he's seen it which is why he's written to the SMC to discuss it. Whether they have the balls to do anything different is another question.
Obi, Angus Young has a copy of the lease, I assume he'll be giving some sort of indication of what it says, though he'll be fairly limited, it's obviously a confidential document.
No, thank you, I think you've been as clear as you can be. as far as 1) is concerned I suspect you are right. Which I guess begs the question Why don't they increase their rents to cover the shortfall from those who can't afford it? I think they may be reticent to do that, and I don't blame them. So they may have some sympathy with the Allams position (though I doubt it). As for 2) I see your point re the nature of the rift and the lease. Like you I think without Hull City the KC would be a White Elephant of Humber Bridge proportions for the council. But then without the KC (currently) Hull City would be buggered. Seems they both have no option but to live with each other.
We're trying to build a Premier League quality academy, how can you blame Adam Pearson for us not having one already, we weren't a Premier League club when he was in charge.
Does he where does he say that? You do assume as you havent seen it. If the term community use is used that can be manipulated. Mixed use is the term I've seen. Squash and football, there you go, job done.
Yeah right. They might find it funny but they wont give it anymore thought than that. As if ffs.......
Cat 2 Academy. You like googling tell me the other Cat 2 academies. He did **** all for the academy, just admit it you'll feel better.
It might be a little difficult to play squash in there, what with it being a 3G pitch with no squash courts. I suspect the lease has something vague about 'community sport use' and the limited access by schools to play football will be enough to get him round the issue, not that I think the council would do **** all anyway.
We had an academy in line with our league position, now we don't, it's a hell of a stretch to try and blame Pearson for our current issues.
Not seen that. Idle posturing. The letter will be ignored, more bluster in the paper from career politicians panicing about having to do something. I hope Allam makes Geraghty Brady and Bayes crawl on all fours. Temporary floor going to be laid for squash. We were getting huge gates in Div 2 and Div 1 and were in the Championship when he left. Nowt changed in that time, no money went to the juniors.
In reply to the cost issue for users, it would first be necessary to do a true costing for the arena. Without knowing this it's impossible to know if any of the clubs could afford it or not.
There are temporary squash courts going in for the Open, they're not going to be there the rest of time, so they're obviously not available for anyone to use.
David Burns @bbcburnsy Ehab Allam tells @RadioHumberside SMC are complying with their lease on Airco Arena @Airco_For_All. They will press ahead with plans.
As I said, whether the Council has the balls to do anything is another matter. If there is any doubt about Hull City AFC's tenancy at the Airco Arena the Premier League will turn down the application for Category 2 status. Being in this position is what I meant by incompetence. There should have been no doubts about us getting through. The last sentence made me laugh out loud.
