Mo Diame, Robbie Brady, James Chester and Liam Rosenior all trained yesterday, for the first time, but are not in contention for Sunday's game. Jelavic is desperate to return this season, but Bruce is not sure he will. Bruce on Ince - "I spoke with his father at Derby this week. Whatever decision they take, we back."
Give them a week or so extra to get up to speed and get them ready for Swansea away, we need at least a point there!
Diame was expected back for QPR, then Leicester (which was two weeks later), then Chelsea, now the week after that. It'll have been an extra month by then.
I'm sure Bruce has said that before. And anyway I was wrong, it's already been a month since QPR. It'll be an extra 6 weeks out by the time Swansea comes.
He returned to full training in early Feb, but then the set-back was announced on Feb 20th, this week is the first time he's been back in full training since then as far as I'm aware.
No point is even trying to use Diame or Chester on sunday. Give them an extra 2 weeks during the international break. Brady and Rosie maybe for the bench with Jelavic and Hudds not available. IMO, Meyler and Quinn have to start. We need energy in the midfield. McGregor McShane Bruce Dawson (c) Elmohamady Livermore Meyler Quinn Robertson N'Doye Hernandez subs:- Harper - Rosie - Figueroa - Davies - Ramirez - Aluko - Brady.
I wish I knew more about the Prem referees. Oliver has a reputation for being light on cards and PK's, right? Overall a good referee?
That makes no sense, Rosey has been out longer than Chezzy. Brady and Rosey both had leg injuries preventing them from keeping on their feet. Chester, although limited in things he can do, has at least been able to keep his legs active which take the most strain during a football match. If any of them were going to make an early return it would be our James. And it would be a timely return, we've missed him massively imo. You notice him missing far more than any of our other centre halves, Dawson included which I find strange as I think Dawson is definitely as comfortable and able with the ball as Chester. Probably because we're used to having Chezzy in the back line for years where as Daws is relatively new.
